Horizon League Statement on Cleveland State's Cancellation of Baseball

A statement from Horizon League Commissioner Jon LeCrone on the decision of Cleveland State University to drop baseball:

“While we regret any decision that reduces the number of opportunities for student-athlete participation in intercollegiate athletics, especially in the Horizon League, we also understand the external pressures and financial realities confronting NCAA Division I athletics. We know the Cleveland State board and the university administration carefully considered the impact of this decision and we applaud their efforts to honor the scholarship commitments of the baseball student-athletes who have remaining eligibility. We also pledge the support of the conference office in assisting CSU and its student-athletes in any way we can.”
