INDIANAPOLIS – Milwaukee’s Colin Duffy opened his freshman season with two event wins this weekend and has been named Horizon League Male Swimmer of the Week this week. UIC’s Brianna Hines won four events in the Flame’s tri-meet against Green Bay and Valparaiso and has claimed the first 2017 Horizon League Female Swimmer of the Week title.

Green Bay sweeps the 2017 Male and Female Divers of the Week honors for the second week in a row. Michael Klemm swept the boards again in a tri-meet against UIC and Valparaiso with a 3-meter score and has been selected as this week’s Horizon League Men’s Diver of the Week. Bailey Wagner also dominated on both the 1-meter and 3-meter boards in a tri-meet against UIC and Valparaiso with a 3-meter score and has been named this week’s Horizon League Women’s Diver of the Week.

MALE SWIMMER OF THE WEEK | COLIN DUFFY | MILWUAKEE | FRESHMAN | WAUNAKEE, WIS.
Colin opened his freshman debut with two event wins in the 1000-yard and 500-yard freestyle in the dual meet vs. Grand Valley State. In the 1000-yard, Duffy timed in at 9:44.41 over second place winner at 9:52.67. In the 500-yard freestyle, Duffy finished at 4:42.13 ahead of second place winner, 4:49.12.

FEMALE SWIMMER OF THE WEEK | BRIANNA HINES | UIC | SENIOR | NORMAL, ILL.

Brie Hines, the reigning Horizon League champion in the 500 and 1650 free, continued to serve notice that she will be a force in distance events this season.  In the Flames’ tri-meet against Green Bay and Valparaiso, Hines won four events.  She took first in the 1000 free, 25 seconds ahead of the second place finisher, and the 500 free.  She added victories in the 400 IM and the 400 free relay as UIC defeated the Phoenix and Crusaders.

MALE DIVER OF THE WEEK | MICHAEL KLEMM | GREEN BAY | SENIOR | ROCKFORD, ILL.

Klemm swept the boards again in a tri-meet against UIC and Valparaiso with a 3-meter score that surpassed the NCAA Division 1 Zone qualifying mark. On the 3-meter board, he posted a final score of 327.07, over 7 points ahead of the Zone diving standard and over 30 points ahead of second place. On the 1-meter board, his point total was 288.60. Currently, his 3-meter score is ranked 1st in the Horizon League.

FEMALE DIVER OF THE WEEK | BAILEY WAGNER | GREEN BAY | JUNIOR | WEST BEND, WIS.

Wagner again was dominant on both the 1-meter and 3-meter boards in a tri-meet against UIC and Valparaiso with a 3-meter score that surpassed the NCAA Division 1 Zone qualifying mark. On the 3-meter board, she earned a score of 309.37, almost 30 points ahead of the Zone diving standard, as well as almost 75 points ahead of second place. On the 10meter board, her point total was 260.77. Currently, both her 3-meter score and 1-meter score are ranked 1st in the Horizon League.
