Horizon League Male Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week

 

Elvis Cirikovic

Wright State, Junior, Ljubljana, Slovenia

Elvis Cirikovic of Wright State has been selected the Horizon League Men's Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week for Nov. 23.

 

Cirikovic led the Raiders to the victory over Miami on Friday by winning the 50 and 100-yard freestyle races with season-best times of 21.06 and 46.18.  He was also part of the 400 freestyle relay team that finished first with a 3:06.37. 

 

 

Horizon League Female Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week

 

Tina Pandza

Wright State, Sophomore, Velenje, Slovenia

Tina Pandza of Wright State has been selected the Horizon League Women's Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week for Nov. 23.

 

Pandza set a season-best for the Raiders in the 200 and 500-yard freestyle at Miami on Friday with times of 1:56.28 and 5:08.85 as she won the 500 and took second in the 200. 

 

 

Other Top Male Horizon League Performers - Nov. 23

 

Raj Duggal

Butler, Sophomore, Columbus, Ind.

Sophomore distance specialist Raj Duggal led the Bulldogs to a fifth-place finish on the men's side at the inaugural Doug Coers Invitational in Muncie, Ind., on the campus of Ball State University over the weekend. Duggal placed third in the 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 16:55.57. In the 500-yard freestyle, Duggal got to the wall in 4:56.27 for a fourth-place finish. In what equates to a sprint for Duggal, the Columbus, Ind., native swam 1:50.97 in the 200-yard freestyle for sixth place overall.

 

LeRoy Stevens

UIC, Junior, Arlington Heights, Ill.

Stevens continued his early-season sprint-freestyle success this past weekend, winning two events while contributing to three victorious relays. The third-year Flame sped to a 21.89 50 free mark for the win against Western Illinois on Nov. 19, then grabbed the 200 freestyle against Saint Louis then next day in an impressive 1:43.82, a season-best. Stevens also contributed to top times in the 200 medley relay, 200 freestyle relay and 400 freestyle relay.

                                                                                                               

Chase Gravengood

UW-Milwaukee, Freshman, Oconomowoc, Wis.

Gravegood won two events to lead the Panthers to a second-place finish at the Doug Coers Invitational. On the first day, he won the 200 IM in 1:58.71 and came back on day two to top the field in the 200 fly (1:58.50). He also finished third in the 400 IM and competed with four second-place relays.

 

 

Other Top Female Horizon League Performers - Nov. 23

 

Jesse Levknecht

Butler, Senior, Ada, Mich.

Senior Jesse Levknecht posted a fourth-place result in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:01.36 and finished seventh in the 100-yard backstroke (1:03.34). The women finished sixth the women's side at the inaugural Doug Coers Invitational in Muncie, Ind., the Bulldogs' last action until after the Thanksgiving holidays.

 

Tara Goodwin

UIC, Junior, Lockport, Ill.

Coming off a 2003-04 season that ended abruptly with knee surgery, Goodwin had a banner weekend for the Flames. Goodwin won the one-meter event against Western Illinois on Nov. 19 with a 197.40; she also took second place in the thee-meter board with a 202.42. She continued to be consistently strong dive after dive the next day against Saint Louis, winning the three-meter competition against the Billikens with a 220.95 while placing a close second in the one-meter with a 208.50.  

                                                                                                      

Lindsay Caldwell

UW-Milwaukee, Sophomore, West Bend, Wis.

Caldwell was named the Outstanding Women's Performer of the Meet at the Doug Coers Invitational over the weekend, helping Milwaukee to a third-place finish. On the event's second day, she won both the 100 and 200 breast events with times of 1:06.44 and 2:25.74, respectively. She also took second in the 50 free on the meet's first day. In relays, she helped the Panthers to one second and three third-place finishes.
