The Horizon League men's and women's swimming and diving teams made a splash over the weekend in conference and non-conference meets.

Weekend Results for November 1-3

Cleveland State Men’s Swimming and Diving

Nov. 1 – Dual meet against Ohio State, Denison, and Virginia Tech
Ohio State 201, CSU 91; Virginia Tech 252, CSU 48; Denison 180, CSU 120

COLUMBUS, Ohio-  The Cleveland State men's swimming and diving team competed against Ohio State, Denison, and Virginia Tech on Friday evening.
The Vikings swimmers were led by freshman Patrick Walsh, junior Kyle Riordan, and senior Justin Kermack.  On the diving end for CSU, sophomore Danny Roberts and sophomore Stephen Schillero had solid showings.

Walsh had consistant performances in the 1,000 Freestyle with a time of 9:45.93 and in the 500 Freestyle had a time of 4:44.47.  Riordan also swam well in the 1,000 and 500 Freestyle events with times of 9:50.29 and 4:46.15. Kermack swam in the 200 butterfly and 100 butterfly events for CSU.  Kermack's time of 51.04 in the 100 butterfly gave him a fourth place finish.  In the 200 butterfly he swam a time of 1:52.46.

In diving, Danny Roberts and Stephen Schillero competed in the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events. Roberts tallied a score of 286.65 in the 1-meter and Schillero posted a score of 284.95 in the 1-meter dive.  In the 3-meter, Roberts recorded a score of 324.25 and Schillero scored a 309.10.

Head Coach Wally Morton spoke about how the meet went for the Green and White. "We are in a very heavy part of our training and lifting in our practices.  We have solid performances we can build upon and are looking to continue on improving week in and week out.  We got a great opportunity to compete against the top teams in the nation.  From that, we will get better from what kind of competition we faced."

The Vikings fell to Ohio State 201-91, fell to Virginia Tech 252-48, and fell to Denison 180-120.  The men only will be back home in the pool tomorrow afternoon at Robert F. Busbey Natatorium , (Nov. 2), against Miami (OH) with the swim events beginning at 2:00 p.m.  Prior to the meet, last year's Men's Swimming and Diving Team will receive their Championship rings on winning the tournament last year in Chicago, Illinois.

Nov. 2 – Cleveland State vs. Miami-- Miami 174.5, CSU 123.5

CLEVELAND, Ohio-  The Cleveland State men's swimming and diving team swam against Miami University on Saturday afternoon at Robert F. Busbey Natatorium.

The Vikings had four first place winners in the individual swimming and diving events.  Al Shillito and Alex Lewis won a pair of swimming events.  Shillito had the top time in the 100 backstroke (51.20) and in the 200 backstroke (1:53.77).  Lewis won his two events in the 50 free (20.64) and in the 100 free he ended up tying for first with Miami's Joe Baumgartner with a time of 45.59.  Danny Roberts placed first in the 3-meter diving with a top score of 307.95.  CSU won the 400 Freestyle Relay with Nathan Grant, Robert Tolson, Alex Lewis, and Adam Ingledew leading the charge.  The four timed out at 3:06.18.

Cleveland State's six second place finishes were led by Patrick Walsh, who swam in the 1,000 Freestyle (9:39.35) and also took second in the 500 free (4:44.83), Nathan Grant swimming in the 100 breast (57.47) and the 200 breast(2:05.95), Stephen Schillero finished second in the 1-meter dive with a score of 280.50, and the Vikings finished runner-up in the 200 Medley Relay (Shillito, Grant, Lewis, and Nordike) with a time of 1:33.64.

Despite the 174.5- 123.5 loss to Miami University, the Vikings swam well in the pool with much improved times in the meet.  The men will be back in the pool at home as the Vikings will welcome St. Bonaventure on Friday (Nov. 8), with events beginning at 3:00 p.m.

Cleveland State Women’s Swimming and Diving

Nov. 1 – Dual meet against Ohio State, Virginia Tech and Denison

COLUMBUS, Ohio-  The Cleveland State women's swimming and diving team competed at Ohio State's McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion on Friday evening.
The Vikings swimmers were led by freshman Dayna Kiekebosch, senior Alex Johnasson, and freshman Rowan Elbadry.  Kiekebosch had a solid time of 1:08.86 in the 100 breastroke.  Johansson had improvement in the 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke.  In the 100 butter fly she touched the wall at 58.18 and in the 50 yard freestyle she timed out at 24.46.  Elbadry won the 200 Freestyle over Denison with a time of 1:53.27.

CSU fell to Ohio State 252-48, Virginia Tech defeated the Vikings 248-50, and Denison won 188-112.  The Vikings will return home to the pool on Friday (Nov. 8), as the team will swim against St. Bonaventure at Robert F. Busbey Natatorium.  The swimming and diving events will begin at 3:00 p.m.

UIC Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving

Nov. 2 – UIC vs. Milwaukee
Men: UIC 157, Milwaukee 141; Women: Milwaukee 200, UIC 98

CHICAGO – The UIC men’s and women’s swimming and diving program returned home after almost a month to face Horizon League foe Milwaukee.  The men’s team triumphed by a final of 157-141, while the women were nipped by the Panthers, 200-98.

“The men’s meet came down to the last relay. Very exciting! We were able to get our hand on the wall first. It was a nice way to finish out the week against a tough Horizon League opponent,” head coach Paul Moniak expressed.

The men’s squad (2-3, 1-2 HL) took first in nine out of 16 events, proving to be an unstoppable force. Kei Ishimaru was overpowering in all his individual events, as well as his relay. Ishimaru recorded a time of 1:52.31 in the 200 butterfly, 50.58 in the 100 fly, and 1:54.24 in the 200 IM. Ishimaru, joined by Peter Errichiello, Conor Ozog, and Mike Reed also proved to be the best in their 200 medley relay with a time of 1:34.70.

Sebastian Ostrowski (51.56) and P. Errichiello (52.23) took first and second, respectively, in the 100 backstroke. Christian Grobe was unstoppable in the 100 breaststroke recording a final time of 58.30, as well as the 200 breast with a time of 2:04.99. Reed breezed through the 50 freestyle (20.99) as he touched for first place.

In a nail biting, down to the wire final race, the Flames quartet of Vincent Errichiello, Nick Kowaleski, Ostrowski, and P. Errichiello touched first with a time of 1:25.02, beating Milwaukee by just .11 of a second as the crowd roared and guaranteed the men’s squad first-place honors in the meet.

The Flames also finished with seven second-place finishes. John Mordach took second in the 200 free (1:46.55), while Connor Howard in the 1-mtr and 3-mtr diving with scores of 278.30 and 296.00, respectively. Kowaleski just missed first in the 100 free (47.27) and Ramiro Almaraz took second in the 200 back (1:55.48). Ryota Kuwahara pushed through 1650 yards in the men’s free, but ultimately came in second with a time of 16:18.56.

On the women’s side (2-3, 1-2 HL), Danel Voorhees was best in the 100 fly, clocking in at 57.38. Whitney Johnson also dove best on the 1-mtr board with a final score of 307.50.

“We faced one of the top women’s teams in the Horizon League today and it was a tough battle,” said Moniak. “We had some solid performances, but we still have a lot of work to do.”

UIC took second in eight events, starting with the quartet of Anne Jacobsen, Voorhees, Monica Pinkus, and Katherine Hare in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:48.71.

Pinkus also took second in the 100 breast (1:04.57) and 200 breast (2:24.92). Jacobsen tapped second in the 100 back, registering a time of 1:00.01. Veronica Gibson came up short in the 1650 free with a time of 17:44.96, as well as the 200 IM with a time of 2:12.70.

The foursome of Pinkus, Hare, Melanie Waszak, and Kelsey Millin pushed through the 200 free relay, but ultimately came in second with a time of 1:37.48. Waszak also placed second in the 200 fly (2:08.69).

Both squads continue action next weekend with back-to-back meets beginning Friday, November 8 taking on Wyoming at 5 p.m. (CT) and rounding out the weekend facing Northwestern and Wyoming again on Saturday, November 9 at 1 p.m.

Oakland Men’s Swimming and Diving

Nov. 2 – Oakland vs. Wright State—Men: Oakland 174, Wright State 121

ROCHESTER, Mich. - After two weekends away from intercollegiate competition, the Oakland men's swimming and diving team cruised to a 174-121 win over Horizon League foe Wright State Saturday afternoon at the OU Aquatic Center. Aleksander Danielewski, Amr el Sayed, Grant Harding and Hrafn Traustason were all two-time individual winners to pace the men's effort.

On the women's side, the Golden Grizzlies won 13 consecutive individual events on the way to a 194-98 victory. Karin Tomeckova, Patricia Aschan, Emily Ludema and Tricia Grant were two-time individual winners.

"We have a lot of swimmers standing out right now," Oakland head coach Pete Hovland said. "On the men's side today, two of our freshmen - Alex Danielewski and Tuomas Kiviluoma - are starting to show some positive signs. Steve Neill and Jake Pearson had real nice meets today as well. And for the women, we had some swimmers compete in events they haven't swam yet this year and really compete well; Karin Tomeckova, Emily Ludema and Patricia Aschan were bright spots for us."

The men's team started off with a victory in the 200 medley relay, as Danielewski, Traustason, Mario Rusnak and Harding raced to a time of 1:32.77. From there, Oakland's men's team captured 11 individual victories.

Danielewski swept the men's backstroke events, winning the 100 (51.22) and 200 (1:53.73) while the men's breaststroke races belonged to Traustason with wins in the 100 (58.21) and 200 (2:07.26).

In the freestyle, the sprints were paced by Harding with a victory in the 50 (21.37) and leading a Oakland sweep of the top four finishes in the 100 (45.61). Harding's 100 free time is among the top times nationally, ranking 70th overall.

Swimming the 1650 free for the first time this season, el Sayed cruised to a time of 15:56.29, which ranks 20th in the nation; his final 50 yard split was an impressive 25.25. El Sayed added a win in the 500 free, posting a mark of 4:35.94.

Adding single individual wins for the Oakland men were Rusnak (100 fly, 50.77), Mitchell Alters (200 fly, 1:55.11) and Jordan Welling (3 meter diving, 268.05).

For the women's team, the Golden Grizzlies continued their momentum from last weekend's victory. Although Wright State won the meet-opening 200 medley relay, Oakland clipped off victories in the next 13 individual events. Oakland went 1-2-3 in five races and added four-swimmer sweeps in the 100 free and 200 breast.

Tomeckova was an all-around winner for Oakland, capturing wins in the 100 free (53.28) and 200 free (1:55.19) while touching first in the 200 IM in an exhibition. Aschan showed her versatility with victories in the 200 fly (2.07.77) and the 200 back (2:06.32).

Ludema was stellar in the distance free races, winning the 500 free (5:11.22) and out-touching teammate Grace Waller by .22 seconds in the 1650 (18:11.68).

Grant again was victorious in both diving events for the third time this season, missing the school record in the 3-meter by three points (329.32) and winning the 1-meter (276.94).

Oakland also got individual wins from Stella Pasalidou (100 back, 1:00.20), Takara Martin (100 breast, 1:06.25), Nikki Flynn (50 free, 24.66) Rachel Waite (200 breast, 2:25.89) and Julia Vela (100 fly, 57.74).

Oakland returns to action next weekend when the Golden Grizzlies host the Bowling Green women's team Friday, Nov. 8 at 4 p.m. before facing the Eastern Michigan men's and women's teams Saturday, Nov. 9 at 1 p.m.

Green Bay Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving

Nov. 2 – Green Bay vs. South Dakota State
Men: Green Bay 162, South Dakota State 138 Women: Green Bay 178, South Dakota State 122

GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – Competing in their first home meet of the season, the Green Bay men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams swept South Dakota State on Saturday afternoon at the Peter F. Dorschel Natatorium.

The women improved to 4-0 with a 178-122 triumph, recording first-place finishes in 12 of 16 events. The men earned their first dual victory of the season (1-2) by a score of 162-138, picking up 11 top finishes.

Willem Poelmans (Hasselt, Belgium) finished the day with three individual wins for the Phoenix men, taking the top spot in the 200 free (1:43.54), 500 free (4:43.82) and 400 IM (4:05.91), finishing the 400 IM nearly 11 seconds ahead of his nearest competitor, teammate Andy Cooper (Peoria, Ill.). He then went on to help the 800 free relay to a first-place finish in 6:59.82. He was joined on the relay by Connor Andrew (Centennial, Colo.), Robert Miner (Madison, Wis.) and Brian Heiser (McFarland, Wis.).

Senior Parker Wolf (Kohler, Wis.), the reigning Horizon League Women’s Swimmer of the Week, continued her hot start to the season, winning the 50 free (24.20) and 100 free (53.47) while also helping two relays to victory. Wolf swam the anchor leg of the 200 medley relay, partnering with Emily Gomez (Burlington, Wis.), Marlee Kiander (Tomahawk, Wis.) and Haley Lucas (Menomonee Falls, Wis.) to touch the wall in a time of 1:48.16. Closing out the meet, she swam the third leg in the 800 free relay as she and Claire Walters (Northfield, Minn.), Racheal Weiland (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.) and Natalie Neuwirth (Stevens Point, Wis.) took the top spot in 7:49.79.

Several relay competitors also took home individual event wins at the meet, as Lucas and Neuwirth finished with two wins apiece.

Lucas won the 200 fly in a pool-record time of 2:04.91 before capturing the top spot in the 100 fly in 57.59. The 200 fly time was nearly two seconds faster than former Phoenix standout Shannon Demrow's previous record of 2:06.86, set in 2011. Neuwirth won the 200 back (2:07.32) and the 400 IM (4:42.14).
Weiland was also victorious in the 200 free (1:54.50), while Gomez won the 100 back (59.09).

On the boards, the Phoenix took the top two spots in the 1-meter dive, led by a 238.42 point performance from Crystal Franzwa (Winona, Minn.) and followed by a 223.87 point showing by Jessie Dinelli (Northbrook, Ill.).

The 200 medley relay of Evan Hill (Jefferson, Wis.), Ryan Korslin (Rudolph, Wis.), Cole Hackney (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) and Casey Murphy (Sun Prairie, Wis.) set the tone for the men’s team, winning the first event of the day for the men in 1:34.34.

Korslin followed up the relay win with two individual wins in the 100 breast (57.76) and 200 breast (2:10.78).

The final individual wins for the men included Miner in the 200 fly (1:55.88) and 100 fly (51.86), Heiser in the 200 back (1:55.60) and Tanner Nordlund (Rice, Minn.) in the 1-meter dive (269.70).

Green Bay returns to action next weekend, hosting the two-day Phoenix 1-2-3, featuring Division II St. Cloud State and Division III UW-Whitewater.

Milwaukee Men’s Swimming and Diving

Nov 1 – Milwaukee at Wheaton College—Milwaukee 133, Wheaton 72

Wheaton, Ill. - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's swimming team won all 11 of its events in a convincing 133-72 win over Wheaton College Friday at the Chrouser Aquatic Center.

Ryan Finke, Tim Halverson and Nic Halverson all posted multiple victories to help lead the Panthers to the convincing victory.

"We had a good night tonight," Milwaukee head coach Kyle Clements said. "It was nice coming off the weekend from last weekend. We posted a lot of best times and I'm really happy. You could definitely tell the difference between the long trip last weekend and the short one this weekend. We came off a really good week of practice and we were really focused tonight.

"We had a lot of really positive individual performances. It's great to have, but we need it against conference, so hopefully tomorrow we'll be able to look back at the whole weekend be proud of what we did."

Finke first posted an impressive victory in the 200 freestyle, cruising to the win in 1:45.02. Joe Chokran came in second in 1:47.16. Finke then won the 100 free, touching the wall first in 53.17.

N. Halverson claimed his first win in the 400 IM with a time of 4:08.31, the second fastest time in the league so far this season in just his first time swimming the event. Kenny Stelpflug was second for Milwaukee in 4:10.35. Halverson also claimed a win in the 500 free with a winning time of 4 minutes, 46.53 seconds.

T. Halverson started his day with a win in the 1000 free, touching the wall first in 9:45.93. Chris Jenkyns was right behind in 9:47.29 for second and Jeff Maxwell took third in 10:02.64. Halverson showed his versatility by also taking first in the 100 free in 47.74, just touching out Stelpflug at 47.75.

Jenkyns also took home a win on the day, taking the top spot in the 100 backstroke in 52.58.

David Chokran won the 100 breaststroke in 58.92. Mike Lucchesi took the top spot in the 50 free in 21.54, the fastest time by a Panther in the event this season.

UWM also won both of its relays on the day. Nick Menninga, Erik Wahlgren, Collin Heitfeld and Lucchesi teamed up to post the fastest time in the 200 free relay in 1:25.79.

In the 200 medley relay, John Kangas, David Chokran, Rob Miller and Lucchesi combined to post a time of 1:36.69, two seconds ahead of the next closest team.

The Panthers have a quick turnaround, taking on conference rival UIC tomorrow at 1 p.m. at the Flames

Nov. 2 – Milwaukee at UIC—UIC 157, Milwaukee 141

CHICAGO - Juniors Kenny Stelpflug and K.J. Heger each won two events and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's swimming & diving team continued to make impressive strides before narrowly falling, 157-141, to UIC Saturday at the Flames Natatorium.

"Tonight was a good night," Milwaukee head coach Kyle Clements said. ""We'll never be happy with second, but we're really happy with the time that we dropped today. We felt our times today were a positive reflection of what the men's team has going forward. All-in-all, it was a good day."

Stelpflug started the day by winning the mile the first time the team swam the event this season. The junior just touched out UIC's top finisher with a time of 16:18.31 for first place. Nic Halverson came in third in 16:28.38.

UWM took the top three spots in the 500 freestyle, again with Stelpflug leading the way. This team he won the event comfortably with a winning time of 4:41.02, just beating out teammates Tim Halverson (4:44.96) in second and Ryan Finke (4:50.67) for third.

Heger continued his outstanding start to the season. The junior, who already owns the one-meter record at the UIC Natatorium, broke the pool three-meter record Saturday with an impressive score of 376.50, just missing his own school record that he already broke this season. On the one-meter board, Heger also took the top spot with a score of 318.35 to sweep the events for the third-straight time this season.

Mike Lucchesi won the 100 freestyle, touching the wall first in 46.99, the fastest time by a Panther this season and third-fastest time so far in the conference. Nick Menninga was third at 48.17 and Erik Wahlgren was fourth at 48.74

For the second-straight day, senior Chris Jenkyns won a backstroke event, this time taking the top spot in the 200 backstroke in 1:54.68, a season best by nearly three seconds. Nic Halverson was third in 1:56.39 and Jeff Maxwell was fourth at 1:57.80.

Tim Halverson also took home a victory for the Panthers on the day, winning the 200 free in 1:43.47, the fastest team time so far this season.

The Panthers were just touched out in both of their relays on the day. Jenkyns, Teddy Stackman, Lucchesi and Menninga finished the 200 medley relay in 1:34.71, one one-hundredth of a second shy of the winning time.

In the 200 freestyle relay, Menninga, T. Halverson, Evan Kuker and Lucchesi came in second in 1:25.13, with UIC's team winning in 1:25.02.

Other second-place finishers on the day for UWM included freshman David Chokran in both the 100 breaststroke (59.22) and the 200 breast (2:10.86), Finke in the 200 fly (1:56.34) and Menninga in the 50 free (21.50).

The Panthers will now have a week off before heading to the Stevens Point Border Battle Nov. 15 and 16 in Stevens Point, Wis.

Milwaukee Women's Swimming and Diving

Nov. 1 Milwaukee at Wheaton College – Milwaukee 113, Wheaton College 88

Wheaton, Ill. - Natalie Johnson broke a freshman record, Emily McClellan posted another NCAA B-cut time and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee continued to post impressive results early this season in a 113-88 win over Wheaton College at the Chrouser Aquatic Center Friday evening.

"We had a good night tonight," Milwaukee head coach Kyle Clements said. "It was nice coming off the weekend from last weekend. We posted a lot of best times and I'm really happy. You could definitely tell the difference between the long trip last weekend and the short one this weekend. We came off a really good week of practice and we were really focused tonight.

"We only swam the one meet so far, but this was a good jumping off point leading heading into UIC tomorrow. I'm really happy with how all the events from today. It was just a beginning for when we put our full lineup in against UIC."

Johnson again grabbed headlines in her first event, lapping the field in the 1000 freestyle with an outstanding time of 10:14.58, taking first by more than 40 seconds and breaking Danielle Wenger's freshman record of 10:17.43 set back in 2008. Johnson also broke the Wheaton pool record that had stood since 1980. It is also the fastest time in the Horizon League this season and one of the top-100 times across the nation this year.

McClellan took the top spot in the 100 breaststroke Friday, posting her second NCAA B-cut time of the season of 1:01.80 to cruise to victory and was just shy of her sixth-place standing in the national rankings. The senior's time also was a pool record.

Sierra Townsend posted the fastest time in the Horizon League in the 50 free by touching the wall first in an impressive 24.18 seconds. Freshman Emily Roche was second in 25.17 and Lindsey Verhulst was third in 25.42.

Kristin Zablocki won the 400 IM with a winning time of 4:38.29.

Erika Pliner took first in the 100 backstroke with a season-best time of 1:00.56, just beating out teammate Kiersten Seidel at 1:00.59.

Anna Yontz was a winner in the 100 free, edging out Wheaton's top swimmer to take first in 53.82. Yontz also took second in the 200 free in 1:56.86.

Both Panther relays also won on the day. Becky Yokosh, Nicole Hutchins, Abby Duke and Townsend teamed up to win the 200 freestyle relay in 1:39.71, just beating Milwaukee's B-team of Diana Diel, Sarah Grieve, Emily Dean and Verhulst in 1:39.71.

In the 200 medley relay, Kelsey Abbas, McClellan, Roche and Townsend combined to swim the event in 1 minute, 46.83 seconds for another convincing win on the day.

The Panthers have a quick turnaround, taking on conference rival UIC tomorrow at 1 p.m. at the Flames Natatorium.

Nov. 2 –Milwaukee at UIC—UIC 200, Milwaukee 98

CHICAGO - Senior Emily McClellan posted two more NCAA B-cut times and posted three of the team's 13 wins on the day as the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's swimming & diving team handily defeated conference rival UIC, 200-98, Saturday afternoon at the Flames Natatorium

With a 5-0 record in dual meets to start the season, UWM is now off to its second-best start in program history. The Panthers are also 3-0 against conference opponents so far this season.

"Tonight was a good night," Milwaukee head coach Kyle Clements said. "It's the same kind of score we've been putting up all season but it's against a much better than we've been swimming against. Being able to put that up on UIC tonight really reflects a lot of positives for the women's team moving forward. We didn't have a weak event. We were pretty strong across the entire meet."

McClellan recorded her first B-cut time in her closest event of the day, taking first in the 100 breaststroke in 1:02.08, still winning by 2.5 seconds. Lindsey Verhulst (1:07.99) came in third and Brianna Huth (1:09.11) was fourth.

McClellan also won the 200 breast with an NCAA B-cut time of 2:14.66, winning by a full 10 seconds. The senior then won the 200 IM, touching the wall first at 2:06.07, nearly seven seconds ahead of second place.

Freshman Natalie Johnson continued to make a waves in her first collegiate season, winning three more events Saturday in impressive fashion. The Cedarburg, Wis. native first won the mile in the team's first time swimming the event this season with a time of 17:16.56, a mere three seconds shy of the freshman record set in 2008.

In the 200 butterfly, Johnson placed first with a winning time of 2:07.43, beating out last year's Horizon League Championships Performer of the Meet by over a full second. Johnson then won the 500 free in 5:04.39. Kelsey Abbas came in second at 5:07.09 and Hilary Woldt was third in 5:12.64.

Abbas also won an event on the day, touching the wall first in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:54.65, just edging out a pair of teammates for the top spot. Diana Diel was second in 1:55.14 and Nicole Hutchins was third in 1:59.18. Diel also finished runner-up in the 100 fly in 57.44, missing the top spot by less than one-tenth of a second.

Juniors Anna Yontz and Sierra Townsend traded wins in the sprint freestyles. Townsend took the top spot in the 50 free in an impressive 24.23 seconds, just ahead of Yontz at 24.29.

The two then switched roles in the 100 free as Yontz took the top spot in 52.90, just out-touching Townsend at 52.91.

Senior Becky Yokosh won a pair of events on the afternoon. She claimed first in the 100 backstroke with a winning time of 57.90, more than two seconds ahead of the rest of the field. Freshman Kiersten Seidel just missed a runner-up spot, taking third in 1:00.23 and Erika Pliner was fourth in 1:00.70.

Milwaukee took the top three spots in the 200 back, with Yokosh again leading the way at 2:05.30. Freshman Kristin Zablocki was second in 2:10.62 and Pliner was third in 2:11.57.

In diving, sophomore Rachel Margis finished second on both boards with season-best marks on both boards. On the one-meter, Margis came in runner-up with a score of 259.15. She also took second on the three-meter with a score of 258.05.

Milwaukee's relay teams also took home a pair of wins on the night. Yokosh, McClellan, Diel and Yontz combined to cruise to victory in the opening 200 medley relay in 1:44.87, nearly four seconds ahead of second place.

Then to close the meet, Yontz, Townsend, Yokosh and Diel took the top spot in the 200 free relay in 1:35.69, a new season-best time.

The Panthers will now have a week off before heading to the Stevens Point Border Battle Nov. 15 and 16 in Stevens Point, Wis.

Wright State Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving

Nov. 2—Wright State at Oakland
Men: Oakland 174, Wright State 121 Women: Oakland 194, Wright State 98

The Wright State swimming and diving teams fell to Oakland Saturday in Rochester, Michigan.  The Golden Grizzlies won on the men's side 174-121 and on the women's side 194-98.

First-place finishers for the Raider men were Wiehan Boshoff in the 200 free and Nick Ponce in one meter diving while on the women's side, the 200 medley relay team of Kristen Hayhow, Kayla Fearrin, Emily Hayhow and Samantha Miller was victorious.

Wright State returns to action on Saturday, November 9, at IUPUI starting at noon.

Youngstown State Women’s Swimming and Diving

Nov. 2—Youngstown State vs. Niagara—Youngstown State 191, Niagara 100

Niagara, N.Y. - The Youngstown State swimming and diving team picked up its first dual win of the season with a 191-100 win over Niagara on Saturday at the Purple Eagles' Oxy Aquatic Center.

The Penguins opened the meet with a 1:50.38 in the 200-medley relay by Ashley Dow, Hannah Reynolds, Laura Paz and Jana Janson. Then the Guins won 13 of the 14 individual events against the Purple Eagles.

Dow, Therese Stevens, Reynolds and Paz were two-event winners on the afternoon for the Guins.

Stevens was first with a time of 1:59.00 in the 200 free and the 100 free at 55.29 seconds.

Dow cruised to a win in the 100-yard backstroke with a ti of 58.45 seconds and the 200 back with a time of 2:09.27.

Reynolds first in the 100-yard breaststroke by five seconds with a time of 11:08.90 and won the 200 event with a time of 2:36.24.

Paz won the 200 fly with a time of 2:11.91 as well as the 100 fly with a time of 59.38 seconds.

Janson won the 50 free with a time of 25.12 seconds and was second in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:01.21. Hanna Martin won the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:27.53 and in the 1,000-yard freestyle, she was second with a time of 11:08.54.

Bec Stafford placed first in the one-meter diving with a score of 259.05 and later won the three-meter event with a 283.13.

Megan Ciampa won the final individual event of the dual with a time of 4:50.72.

YSU closed out the meet winning the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:41.27.

The Penguins return to action next Saturday at Duquesne.
