Dayton, Ohio - Both Wright State swimming and diving teams are ranked in the top 30 for best grade point average for all Division I programs in the country during the 2005-06 season, it was announced by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA).

On the women's side, the Raiders were tied for fourth as they recorded a 3.57 grade point average. WSU ranked first in the Horizon League and finished ahead of such schools as Dartmouth, Washington State, Penn State, Brown, Michigan State, Kansas, Lafayette and Duke. As a result of making the honor roll, Wright State was named as an Academic Swimming Team by the CSCAA for the 14th consecutive year.

The men were tied for 29th with a 3.08 grade point average, joining fellow Horizon League members UW-Milwaukee, Butler and UIC on the honor roll. This was the sixth straight year that the men's team was named as an Academic Swimming Team by the CSCAA.

Wright State was one of 14 institutions to have both teams make the top 30, joining Boston College, Brown, Bucknell, Butler, Cincinnati, Dartmouth, Duke, Duquesne, Eastern Michigan, Georgetown, Lafayette, Michigan State, Missouri State.

"It is quite an honor for our teams to be recognized in this area," said Wright State head coach Sion Brinn. "Our players strive to be the best in both the classroom and in competition and it's great to have their efforts be rewarded."

Both programs were runner-up at the Horizon League meet last season and the two have combined for 16 conference crowns since the 1991-92 campaign.

Milwaukee, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's and women's swimming & diving teams were once again named to the list of the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Academic All-America teams, announced recently by the organization.

The Panthers were one of four Horizon League schools to make the list on the men's side and one of four on the women's as well. The inclusion of each extends long established streaks for the UWM swimming & diving program.

In addition to the team honor, junior Lindsay Caldwell was named CSCAAAcademic All-American Honorable Mention for the second-straight season.Caldwell had another fantastic year in the pool, earning Swimmer of the Meet and Swimming/Diving Athlete of the Year honors at the 2006 Horizon League Championships in late February. She won league titles in the 50 and 100 freestyle and finished second in 100 breaststroke, setting a league record in the 100 free and as part of four record-breaking relay teams at the event. She was nearly unbeatable, winning 30 of 35 races on the season, including a nearly four-month span where she won 26-straight times. She currently holds nine UWM and three Horizon League records.

The women have now been honored for 34-straight semesters with their 3.20GPA this past spring semester. Wright State, Butler and UW-Green Bay alsorepresented the Horizon League on the women's side.

For the men, Milwaukee earned the distinction for the 10th-straightsemester, with its 3.10 GPA ranking 25th. The other league teams on theprestigious list included Wright State, Butler and UIC.

The lists, consisting of all divisions, were comprised of 416 teams from 252 institutions. At the NCAA Division I level, Georgetown led the way in the women's side with a 3.61 GPA. For the men, it was American University with a 3.48 GPA.

The team awards capped an impressive year for the student-athletes in theclassroom. Six Panther swimmers/divers were named to the Winter HorizonAcademic All-League Team and Caldwell recently earned Second Team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District accolades as well.

Chicago, Ill.- In what is becoming an annual tradition for the UIC swimming and diving program, the College Swim Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) announced this week that the Flames men's and women's teams received Academic All-America team honors for the fifth straight semester.

The UIC women's swimming and diving team posted a team GPA of 3.08 on a 4.0 scale this past spring, while the UIC men's team put together a 2.85 GPA last semester.

The honor marks the seventh time that both UIC squads have earned Academic All-American team designations in head coach Paul Moniak's five years at the helm.

In addition to the CSCAA Academic All-American honors, the UIC swimming and diving program placed a school-best 17 student-athletes on the most recent Horizon League Academic Honor Roll and had eight student-athletes earn Horizon League Academic All-League accolades.

Indianapolis, Ind. - Both Butler's men's and women's swimming teams were recognized as Academic All-American Teams by the College Swim Coaches Association of America (CSCAA), the CSCAA announced earlier this month. The women's team posted a 3.46 team grade point average for the fall 2005 semester and the men came in at 3.10. The women earned a superior rating, while the men garnered an excellent accolade.

The women's team GPA of 3.46 tied for the university's top student-athlete team grade point average. The men's team GPA of 3.10 trailed only the men's golf team among male squads. Under the direction of first-year head coach Maurice Stewart, 14 Butler swimmers earned a spot on the Butler Athletic Director's Academic Honor Roll for the fall 2005 semester.

The CSCAA recognized 290 teams with commendable (2.80 or better), excellent (3.00 or better) and superior (3.25 or better) distinction.
