INDIANAPOLIS - The 2009 Horizon League Men's and Women's Tennis Championships will return to Indianapolis' North Central High School for the 13th consecutive year, the League office announced Wednesday (Aug. 20).
The event will be held April 24-26, 2009, at the North Central's tennis complex on Indianapolis' north side and feature all nine women's teams and all eight men's. There is no admission charge for the event.
"We are excited to once again play the Horizon League Tennis Championships in Indianapolis," said Stephanie Jarvis, Associate Commissioner at the Horizon League and director of the event. "North Central High School's tennis facility provides a great venue for our student-athletes and our fans to enjoy the competition. Our teams enjoy returning to Indianapolis each year in a familiar setting to compete for the League championships."
Cleveland State University is the defending men's champion, after unseating Butler University, which had won six straight League titles and nine of the previous 10. On the women's side, the University of Illinois at Chicago has captured the Horizon League crown the last 12 years, which is a League record for consecutive championships in any sport.
