INDIANAPOLIS – For the fifth time this year, Valparaiso’s Jeffrey Schorsch earned Men’s Player of the Week after winning in straight sets versus Green Bay. On the flip side, Iris Thioux won Women’s Player of the Week for the first time on the season after picking up two decisive points for Detroit Mercy.

Jeffrey Schorsch / Valparaiso / Senior / Perrysburg, Ohio

Schorsch took care of business with a convincing 6-2, 6-2 win as the team’s top singles player versus Green Bay. Coming into the matchup, the Crusaders and the Phoenix were the only unbeaten teams in conference play. The senior’s point helped Valparaiso clinch the 6-1 victory and earn at least a share of the conference title. Schorsch collected his 24 win on the season and is a perfect 6-0 in league play. This is the fifth Player of the Week honor for Schorsch on the campaign.

Iris Thioux / Detroit Mercy / Sophomore / Creitel, France

Thioux went 2-0 on the week winning both points in straight sets. The sophomore cruised to a 6-0, 6-3 win over Wright State on Saturday and returned to the hardcourt the following day and won 6-2, 6-2 against Northern Kentucky. Both points were critical with Detroit Mercy winning each match 4-3 to improve their record to 4-2 in league play. This is the first Player of the Week honor for Thioux on the season.

Jeffrey Schorsch and Charlie Emhardt / Valparaiso

The senior duo breezed through their lone doubles match on the week defeating Green Bay’s top doubles team 6-3. Schorsch and Emhardt have now won 19 matches on the year playing together as Valparaiso reached 20 wins on the season for the third year in a row.

Sofia Macias and Imaan Hassim / Youngstown State
