Horizon League Tennis Players of the Week (April 25)

INDIANAPOLIS- Wright State’s Karoline Haller picked up Player of the Week honors after winning in straights as the team’s top singles player. Thomas Rodrigues earned Player of the Week after grinding to two three-sets wins on the week.

Karoline Haller / Wright State / Junior / Bekkestua, Norway

Haller won in straight sets against Northern Kentucky at the No. 1 singles spot. The junior won 6-3, 6-3 to help Wright State defeat the Norse 4-3. The win clinched a spot in the Horizon League Championship for the Raiders and they will be facing UIC in the quarterfinals. This is the second Player of the Week honor for Haller on the season.

Thomas Rodrigues / Youngstown State / Freshman / Romorantin-Lanthernay, France

Rodrigues won a pair of three-set points which proved to be the difference as Youngstown State defeated Green Bay and Marquette 4-3. The freshman has 24 singles wins on the year breaking the previous school record of 20 wins. Rodrigues is 6-1 in Horizon League play helping the team go 5-2 in conference play and clinch the No. 4 seed for the Horizon League Championship.

Isabella Spindler and Aleksandra Golawska / Cleveland State

Spindler and Golawska cruised to a pair of doubles wins on the weekend. Playing as the No. 2 doubles, the pair won 6-2 against Milwaukee and 6-2 against Green Bay. Their play helped Cleveland State rattle off two wins and clinch a share of the regular season title and the No. 2 seed for the tournament.

Mitch Maroscher and Thomas Rodrigues / Youngstown State

The duo picked up two doubles points as Youngstown State’s top doubles team. The duo’s two wins came against Green Bay and Marquette as the team won both matches 4-3. Youngstown State clinched the No. 4 seed in the Horizon League Championship and will face Northern Kentucky in the quarterfinal.
