INDIANAPOLIS- Wright State outside hitter Katie Klusman helped the Raiders to a 3-0 record this week, totaling 43 kills and leading the league with 4.78 kills per set. Klusman is the Horizon League Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week. Wright State libero Jessie Thornton led the Raiders on defense, averaging 7.11 digs per set, and 63 total, to claim this week’s Horizon League Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week award.

Klusman led the Raiders this weekend in every match and overall posted 43 kills. She had an impressive .480 hitting percentage in the 3-0 win against Southeast Missouri, where she also helped her team attain their best hitting percentage of the year so far with a .426 hitting percentage. The offensive strength from Klusman this weekend helped the Raiders win the Chicago State Invitational and sweep all three competitors (Southeast Missouri, Louisiana, and Chicago State) in three sets in every match.

Defensive Player of the Week | Jessie Thornton | Wright State | Senior | Libero | Louisville, Ky.
Jessie Thornton led the Raiders with 64 digs throughout the weekend as well as posting two service aces. Thornton is Wright State’s career leader in digs and that experience showed this weekend as she kept the Raiders in every match and allowed them to sweep all of their opponents 3-0, and take home the Chicago Invitational tournament title. Thornton posted 25 digs against Southeast Missouri, thirteen digs against Louisiana, and 26 digs against host Chicago State in only a three set match. Thornton leads the Horizon League with 242 digs for a 5.26 digs/set average.
