INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Cleveland State Beth Greulich was tabbed Offensive Player of the Week, while Valparaiso junior Brittany Malicoat was named Defensive Player of the Week. Both players received Horizon League Player of the Week honors for the second time in their respective careers.

Sophomore Beth Greulich received her second Horizon League Offensive Player of the Week honor of her career. Greulich is the third different player from CSU to receive one of the League's weekly honors this season. The Viking outside hitter earns the award after she helped CSU to a 1-1 week. In Friday's 3-2 loss at Milwaukee, Greulich finished with 15 kills and hit .289. The Ohio native followed that performance with a career-high 21 kills in a 3-1 win at Green Bay. For the week, Greulich posted a hitting percentage of .400 with 36 kills and just six errors in nine games. On the defensive end, she chipped in with 11 total blocks.

Defensive Player of the Week:
Brittany Malicoat
Valparaiso
Jr., Libero, Elkhart, Ind.
Junior Brittany Malicoat collected her second Horizon League Defensive Player of the Week honor in 2007. Malicoat received the honor earlier this year back on Sept. 3. The Crusader libero guided Valparaiso to a 1-1 mark this past week. Malicoat began the week by tallying 33 digs in a 3-1 win against Butler. In the win, the Crusader junior helped limit the Bulldogs to a team attack percentage of .159. She then followed that performance by registering 24 digs in a losing effort against Wright State. For the week, Mailcoat tallied 57 digs for an average of 8.14 digs per game.

Porshia Allen
Butler
So., Outside Hitter, Indianapolis, Ind.
Allen was one of the Bulldogs' top performers last weekend, recording a team-high 22 kills while hitting .242 (22-7-62) in a pair of matches against Valpo and UMKC. She led the team with 12 kills against the Crusaders on Friday and added 13 digs for her ninth double-double of the season. She followed up that performance with 10 kills while hitting .320 in three games against UMKC on Sunday. She also finished with nine block assists on the weekend, including seven at Valparaiso.

Jordan Bateman
Cleveland State
Jr., Libero, Nelsonville, Ohio
Bateman anchored the Viking back row as she totaled 45 digs as CSU split a pair of matches in Wisconsin over the weekend. In Friday's 3-2 loss at Milwaukee, Bateman notched 20 digs before coming back with 25 in a 3-1 win at Green Bay on Saturday. Bateman recorded at least 20 digs in 15 matches this season. In addition, her 45 digs in two matches ran her season total to 466, breaking her own one-year school record of 457 set last fall.

Abby Bergsma
Green Bay
Jr., Middle Blocker, Appleton, Wis.
Bergsma led Green Bay in total blocks (11.0), kills (26), attack percentage (.412), service aces (5) and points (37.5) over two matches during the week. She tied for the team lead in kills in the win over Youngstown State with 12, while hitting .579 for the match with just one error. The junior had 19.0 points in the match, as she added a match-high four service aces and a match-high five blocks. Against Cleveland State Bergsma posted a team-high 14 kills while hitting .312.

Dana VanDiggelen
Loyola
So., Right Side, Arlington Heights, Ill.
VanDiggelen slammed 32 kills (3.56 kpg) in two matches as the Ramblers ran their season-best winning streak to three with victories over Bradley and UIC. VanDiggelen drilled 21 kills at a .291 clip to go with six blocks as the Ramblers slipped past the Braves and finished with 11 kills and five blocks as LU beat UIC in Rogers Park for the 15th straight time. VanDiggelen's 274 kills for the season lead the Ramblers.

Leanne Felsing
Milwaukee
Sr., Outside Hitter, Hartland, Wis.
Felsing collected triple-doubles in each of UWM's three matches last week, leading the Panthers to a win over crosstown-rival Marquette and key league victories over Cleveland State and Youngstown State. She now has 14 triple-doubles this season alone and 21 triple-doubles in her career. For the week, she averaged 4.23 kills, 3.85 digs, 6.31 assists and 0.62 blocks per game.

Amanda Kenny
UIC
Sr., Outside Hitter, Oak Lawn, Ill.
Kenny led the Flames with 13 kills in UIC's lone contest against Loyola on Oct. 19. Kenny was one dig shy of her fifth double-double of the season. She also tabbed five blocks against the Ramblers.

Angie Porche
Valparaiso
So., Outside Hitter, Lynwood, Ill.
Porche posted 26 kills on .373 hitting in win over Butler. She also added 19 kills the next night against Wright State. For the week, the sophomore averaged 6.43 kills and 3.14 digs per game. Porche is now averaging 4.69 kills per game overall and 4.93 kills per game in League play, both marks pacing the League. She has 394 kills on the season, just eight shy of Valpo's single-season top 10 with at least eight more matches to play.

Alisha Kimbro
Wright State
Sr., Outside Hitter, Lisle, Ill.
In her lone match of the week against Valparaiso, Kimbro guided the Raiders to a 3-0 sweep over the Crusaders as she hit .359 with 16 kills.

Jessica Fraley
Youngstown State
Sr., Right Side, LaGrange, Ohio
Fraley averaged 3.29 kills and 3.00 digs per game last week for the Penguins. She posted nine kills against Green Bay and collected her 14th double-double of the season with 14 kills and 11 digs against Milwaukee.

News From Around the League
Butler
Butler hit a season-high .303 (52-12-132) in its sweep of UMKC on Oct. 21 and notched season-best totals for a three-game match with 48 assists and tied the mark with 69 digs. The Bulldogs' 52 kills, meanwhile, fell just one short of the season standard for three-matches.

Michelle DeGeeter continued her climb up the Butler blocking charts this weekend. With her nine block assists over the weekend, she has 316 in her career and is tied with Areal Bienemy for sixth all-time. Meanwhile, her 366 total blocks moved her past Candice Washington for ninth-place.

Freshman Jalesa Lee continues to be one of the top freshman middle blockers in the league this season, notching 81 total blocks at a rate of 1.04 per game.

Cleveland State
CSU's nine-match winning streak was snapped on Friday night at Milwaukee. The Vikings were two victories shy of tying the all-time school-record for consecutive wins.

Junior Jordan Bateman notched 45 digs over the weekend to run her season total to 466 and break her own school-record of 457 digs set last season. She has posted 936 career digs, needing 64 more digs to become the 11th player in school-history with 1,000.

Amy Benz recorded a career-best 20 kills in Friday's loss at Milwaukee. In two matches against the Panthers this season, she averaged 2.8 kills and 1.3 blocks per game.

CSU's 10 league victories are the second best in program history. The Vikings need one more win to equal the school-record of 11 conference wins set in 2005.

Sophomore Alexis Korovich leads the team with 15 double-doubles this season, including seven straight.

Green Bay
From Oct. 21 through Nov. 1, a span of 12 days, Green Bay has just one match (Oct. 27 at Valparaiso).

On Saturday against Cleveland State, the Phoenix played its final match at the Phoenix Sports Center. Green Bay will make its debut at the Kress Events Center on Nov. 2 against Milwaukee.

The Phoenix has won the opening game in each of its last five matches, but has just one victory to show for it, a 3-0 sweep of Youngstown State on Friday.

Green Bay is just 2-5 at home this year after totaling a 16-5 home ledger over the two previous seasons.

UIC
The Flames fell in their lone match against Loyola on Oct. 19, 3-1. Despite the loss, UIC totaled 33 blocks. Senior Amanda Kenny led the Flames with 13 kills and added five blocks on the night.

Freshman Epiphany Davis paced the squad at the net with eight blocks, while sophomore Casie Sullivan owned a team-best 15 digs.

UIC returns to the Flames Athletic Center to face Youngstown State (Oct. 26) and Cleveland State (Oct. 27) this weekend after a six-match road slate.

Loyola
Loyola got a terrific defensive week at the net from Melissa Craig. Craig, the Horizon League's leader in blocks, had 16 kills and 10 blocks against UIC for her first career double-double. That effort came after she posted 14 kills and eight blocks on Tuesday night at Bradley. The nine block assists in the win over the Flames pushed Craig's career total in that category to 252, tied for fourth on LU's all-time list with Therese O'Neill (1989-92).

Keily Zins has also come on for Loyola over the last two weeks and she recorded a pair of double-doubles in the Ramblers' two matches last week, finishing with 15 kills and 21 digs at Bradley and 16 kills and 11 digs in the win over the Flames. Zins is closing in on a personal milestone of her own, as she sits just 18 kills shy of 1,000 for her career.

Loyola's five-game victory at Bradley was the second of its kind in as many years and the Ramblers followed that up with their 15th consecutive home win over UIC.

Milwaukee
UWM has won 21 of its last 22 matches and has a seven-match winning streak.

The Panthers have now won 36 of their last 38 regular season League contests overall and 29-straight League matches at home.Milwaukee is now 91-7 in October over the last 10-plus seasons.

Jamie Gabrielsen has collected 20 or more kills in four-straight matches and has been in double figures in kills in all but one match this season. She also tallied a career-best six aces Saturday against Youngstown State. After its win over Marquette Wednesday, the Panthers are 3-0 against Big East teams this season.

UWM's five seniors consisting of Leanne Felsing, Jamie Gabrielsen, Kelley Olson, Nicole Vilter and Breit Nelson played their final regular season home match Saturday. They are 84-25 overall in their four seasons and have lost just five League matches.

Valparaiso
Val Bollenbacher averaged 5.57 kills per game on the weekend, tallying 17 kills against Butler and 22 against Wright State. The Crusaders rank seventh in the Horizon League in League games with 3.54 kills per game. Bollenbacher's 22 kills on 52 swings against Wright State both ranked among Valpo's top-five in a three-game match all-time

Valpo set a season high for digs Friday against Butler with 96. Four players reached double figures in the match, with Haley Wise posting a career-high 19. Head coach Carin Avery is three wins shy of 200 for her career.

Valpo closes out the home slate this weekend against Milwaukee and Green Bay. The senior class of Sara Hughes, Tiffany Meikle and Nicole Schulz has won 95 matches so far over their four seasons.

Wright State
While Alisha Kimbro's double-double streak ended at five Saturday at Valparaiso, the senior outside hitter still had a solid match as she hit .359 with 16 kills and eight digs. The four seniors on the Raider roster combined for 39 of Wright State's 45 kills in the match and hit .366 with 30 digs, three solo blocks and 13 block assists.

The Raiders reached double figures in blocks for the third straight match as they out blocked Valparaiso 14-2. Wright State has now been in double figures in blocks 12 times this season.

The Raiders begin a season-ending stretch of six out of seven at home Tuesday against Cincinnati, with the lone road match of that stretch being Friday at Butler.

Youngstown State
Junior setter Karla Everhart ranks sixth in school history with 2,172 assists and needs five more helpers to move into fifth place on the all-time list. Everhart averaged 10 assists per game last week.

Senior Jessica Fraley moved closer to the 900 career kills mark with 23 kills last week. She now has 897 career kills and needs 103 more to reach 1,000 career kills. She also has 604 career digs. Fraley also moved into ninth place on the YSU all-time career kills chart.
