INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Milwaukee becomes the first Horizon League school to sweep the League's weekly awards as senior outside hitter Leanne Felsing was named Offensive Player of the Week and sophomore Libero Lauren Felsing was tabbed Defensive Player of the Week. In 2007, Milwaukee has received six player of the week awards (three offensive and three defensive).

Senior Leanne Felsing collects her second Horizon League Offensive Player of the Week award this season and her fifth career honor. Felsing receives the award after helping the Panthers to a 3-0 record this past week as UWM increased its consecutive match winning streak to 13. In three matches, the Milwaukee senior hit .415 with 39 kills, 117 assists, 42 digs and six blocks. In addition, Felsing recorded back-to-back triple doubles against Northern Illinois and Butler. Against NIU, she had 20 kills, 19 digs and 36 assists, the Wisconsin native then followed that performance with 10 kills, 13 digs and 37 assists against BU.

Sophomore Lauren Felsing earns Horizon League Defensive Player of the Week honors for the first time in her career. This past week, Felsing helped Milwaukee to match victories over Northern Illinois, Butler and Wright State. In addition, the Panther sophomore helped anchor a UWM defensive unit, which held NIU, BU and WSU to attack percentages of .155, .126 and .151, respectively. For the week, the Panther sophomore tallied 54 digs (4.91 dpg). Felsing's top performance came against NIU where she led the squad in digs with 24.

Porshia Allen
Butler
So., Outside Hitter, Indianapolis, Ind.
Allen was the Bulldogs' top offensive player last weekend, finishing with 30 kills and a .208 attack percentage. She led the team with 12 kills in three games at Milwaukee on Friday before posting 18 kills at a .214 attack percentage in helping Butler to its second Horizon League victory with a win over Green Bay on Saturday.

Alexis Korovich
Cleveland State
So., Outside Hitter, Geneva, Ohio
Korovich notched her team-leading seventh double-double and her third straight in CSU's lone match of the week, a 3-1 win at Youngstown State on Friday. The sophomore tied for game-high honors with 17 kills and added 14 digs. In addition, she chipped in two blocks and a service ace, while hitting .286 for the match.

Megan Elfering
Green Bay
Jr., Libero, New Berlin, Wis.
Elfering led the Phoenix in digs with 63 in 13 games played (4.85 dpg). In addition, the Wisconsin native had a pair of service aces against Butler on Saturday and also chipped in with three assists.

Katereina Hanakcova
UIC
So., Outside Hitter, Zlin, Czech Republic
Hanakcova picked up two straight double-doubles this week against Green Bay and Valparaiso. The outside hitter totaled 35 kills and 33 digs in 10 games. Hanakcova picked up 17 kills, 22 digs, one service ace and an attack percentage of .279 in a five-game win over Green Bay on Tuesday. The sophomore then added a team-best 18 kills and 11 digs versus Valpo on Friday.

Mallory Curran
Loyola
Fr., Middle Blocker, Wauwatosa, Wis.
Curran helped the Ramblers split a pair of matches this past week against Chicago State and Loyola. She was the team's leading hitter in both outings, finishing with a match-high 13 kills in a 3-0 sweep of Chicago State on Tuesday. She also added 11 more in Friday's loss at Valparaiso. Curran leads the team with 166 points for the season, ranking third on the squad with 133 kills (2.89 kpg) and second with 44 blocks (0.96 bpg). 

Nicole Schulz
Valparaiso
Sr., Right Side, Kewaskum, Wis.
Schulz propelled the Crusaders to a five-game win over UIC in its first match as a member of the Horizon League on Friday. The Valpo senior set a Crusader five-game match hitting percentage record despite not playing the first two games. During the match, Schulz went 17-0-23 to finish with a hitting percentage of .739, which smashed the previous record of .500. For the season, Schulz is fourth in the Horizon League with a .327 hitting percentage.

Lizzy Gunn
Wright State
Jr., Middle Blocker, Franklin, Ind.
In two matches this past week, Gunn collected 15 kills and hit .364. Defensively, the Indiana native recorded seven blocks, five of which came against Milwaukee on Saturday.

Jessica Fraley
Youngstown State
Sr., Right Side, LaGrange, Ohio
Fraley led the Penguins in YSU's 3-1 loss to Cleveland State. She slammed 17 kills with 13 digs, five aces and three blocks against the Vikings. It marked Fraley's seventh double-double of the season and her fourth in a row.

News From Around the League
Butler
Butler steps out of league play momentarily this weekend when the Bulldogs host independent Chicago State on Friday (Sept. 28). They then welcome new league member Valparaiso to town on Saturday (Sept. 29).

Porshia Allen continues to be one of the top offensive players in the Horizon League, ranking fifth with 3.76 kills per game.

With her seven blocks over the weekend, Michelle DeGeeter passed Stephanie Wesley for 10th place on the Bulldogs' all-time blocks list. DeGeeter has 322 career total blocks and is 41 behind Candice Washington's ninth-place total of 363 total blocks.

Following this weekend's home matches, the Bulldogs will embark on a six-match road swing that will cover three weeks. Butler will close the regular season after the stretch with six-straight matches in Hinkle Fieldhouse.

Cleveland State
Head coach Chuck Voss earned his 150th career win in Friday's 3-1 win at Youngstown State. In addition, he moved into second place on the all-time wins list at CSU with 117.

The Vikings, who opened League play on the road for the sixth straight season, will return home this weekend for two matches. CSU, which played 13 of its first 14 matches away from home, have not played a home match since Aug. 28.

Sophomore Alexis Korovich has recorded three straight double-doubles and leads the team with seven this season.

CSU has won 11 straight matches over Youngstown State and has not lost to the Penguins since a 3-1 setback on Sept. 29, 2001.

Green Bay
Green Bay began League this past week against UIC (9/18) and fell 3-2. The Phoenix rebounded on Friday as they swept past Wright 3-0. All three of Green Bay's victories have been sweeps. UWGB concluded the week as it dropped a 3-2 decision to Butler on Saturday.

The Phoenix is 0-5 in matches that have gone more than three games, including 0-3 in five-game matches.

On Tuesday, Green Bay will play the first of four straight matches on the road. That means that 14 of the squad's first 16 matches of the year will have been away from home.

Individually for Green Bay, Liesl Tesch's 25 kills and Betty Slinger's 64 assists against UIC each ranked among the top 10 in the school's single-match record books.

UIC
The Flames went 1-1 last week in two Horizon League match-ups versus Green Bay and Valparaiso.

Sophomore Katerina Hanakcova picked up two straight double-doubles this week against Green Bay and Valparaiso. The outside hitter totaled 35 kills and 33 digs in 10 games.

Sophomore Lana Lobdell totaled 32 kills and a team-best eight blocks and a hitting percentage of .300. Freshman Taylor Szatkowski led the Flames with 36 digs, while freshman Dana Van Syckle added seven blocks and a team-high four service aces.

UIC continues its road schedule, facing Western Michigan on Tuesday, Sept. 25 at 6:00 p.m. CST.

Loyola
Despite its 3-10 record, Loyola has actually out-killed its opponents for the season. The Ramblers hold a 665-653 edge in that category through 13 matches.

Freshman Katie Johnson put together the best week of her young career, racking up nine kills against Chicago State before entering the Valpo match in game three as a sub where she pounded out seven kills.

Milwaukee
UWM has won 13-straight matches, which is two off the school record of 15-straight, set last season. The Panthers have won 28 of their last 30 matches overall.

The Panthers ran their winning streaks to 13 at home overall and 23 in a row at home in League play. UWM has also won 29 of its last 30 Horizon League regular season matches.

Natalie Schmitting set collegiate bests for kills (19) and hitting percentage (.760) vs. Wright State (9/22). The attack percentage is the fourth-best in a three-game match in UWM's Division I history.

Becky Peters has moved up to second all-time on UWM's career digs list. She passed 1,200 digs in Saturday's against WSU and has 1,219 for her career. She is one of just three players in UWM's Division I history to collect at least 1,200 career digs, with Laura Dallenbach topping the list at 1,600 and current assistant coach Lindsey Vanden Berg now third at 1,204.

UWM entered last week ranked second in the nation in digs at 21.1 digs per game and have now upped that to 21.2 digs per frame.

Valparaiso
Valpo's match against UIC on Friday was its first-ever Horizon League match for the Crusader volleyball program and was the first home Horizon League event for Valpo in any sport

Angie Porché led Valpo in kills in both matches (21 vs. UIC, 16 vs. Loyola). Valpo's week was also highlighted by Jill Meyer, who set career-highs with five blocks against UIC and 15 kills versus Loyola.

The Crusaders have racked up 17 aces over their last two matches and now have 107 on the year. Six different players have registered at least 10 aces

Brittany Malicoat once again led Valpo in digs in both matches (27 vs. UIC, 18 vs. Loyola); she has led Valpo 55 straight times and tallied double figures on 31 straight occasions.

Wright State
Wisconsin native Lindsey Frank had a strong return home over the weekend as the senior setter notched 11 kills and 58 assists in the two matches while hitting .308. Frank hit .615 with nine kills at Green Bay and had 36 assists with eight digs at Milwaukee.

The Raiders, who have reached the halfway point in their regular-season schedule, start the second half this week by taking on local rival Xavier on the road Tuesday before hosting Valparaiso on Friday. The Raiders head to the Badger State for matches this week against Green Bay on Friday and Milwaukee on Saturday. Starting this week, WSU will be at home for just four of its next 13 matches through the end of October.

Youngstown State
Junior setter Karla Everhart ranks sixth on the all-time YSU assist list with 1,704 career helpers. She dished out 46 assists this past weekend and needs 295 more to become the fifth player to net 2,000 assists in a career and 472 more to move into fifth place on the all-time list.

Senior Jessica Fraley moved closer to the 800 career kills mark with 17 kills last week. She now has 751 career kills. Fraley also has 508 career digs.
