INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - UIC sophomore Jessie Miller was selected as the Horizon League Women's Basketball Player of the Week after she averaged 16.5 points per game in helping the Flames to a 1-1 week.

UIC guard Jessie Miller was awarded her second career Player of the Week honors following a week in which she guided the Flames to a 1-1 mark, including a win over cross-town rival Northwestern. The win over the Wildcats was the squad's first in the series since the 2004-05 season. In the win over the Wildcats, the 5-foot-8-inch Flame scored 13 points and pulled down four rebounds. The sophomore finished the week as she scored 20 points in a 69-62 loss at Bradley. Miller also recorded three steals and was 8-of-10 from the free-throw line against the Braves.

Susan Lester, Butler

Lester helped the Bulldogs to a 1-1 mark this past week. The sophomore forward opened the week with 12 points and a game-high eight rebounds as BU posted a 56-46 win over Bradley. She then followed that performance with 14 points against No. 23 Purdue.
Brittany Korth, Cleveland State

Korth led the Vikings to a 59-47 win over Akron on Saturday as she collected 15 points, six steals, four rebounds and three assists. The guard was 5-of-10 from the field, including 4-of-8 from beyond the arc.
Rachel Porath, Green Bay
Jr. * G * Luxemburg, Wis.
Porath led the Phoenix in its season-opening road trip as the team went 1-1 during the week against a pair of Missouri Valley Conference foes (Illinois State and Missouri State). For the week she averaged 15.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game.
Maggie McCloskey, Loyola
So. * G * Riverside, Ill.
McCloskey averaged 15.5 points per game and connected on seven 3-point field goals in a 1-1 week. During the Ramblers 82-69 loss at Marquette on Monday the LU guard scored all of her 17 points in the second half. McCloskey followed that performance with 14 points in a 82-54 loss at home to Dayton.
Agnieszka Kulaga, Valparaiso

Kulaga scored 10 points and had five rebounds in a 65-62 loss at then No. 20-ranked Purdue on Monday. On Friday, Kulaga added 11 points and four rebounds in a 96-69 loss at Cincinnati. The Valpo junior finished the week with 12 points and six rebounds against Xavier.
Sheylani Peddy , Wright State

Peddy opened the week with 12 points and five rebounds during a 61-52 loss at Ball State on Monday. Peddy finished the week with 14 points and three steals in a 74-41 loss against Eastern Michigan on Saturday.
Heather Karner, Youngstown State
Sr. * G * St. Louis, Mo.
Karner posted a game-high 20 points in an 87-76 loss to Niagara last Tuesday. Karner connected on 7-of-19 field goals, including three three-pointers. She also was 3-of-5 from the free-throw line. The senior guard leads the team with 18.5 points per game.

Butler
Sophomore forward Susan Lester has gotten off to an outstanding start to her second season with the Bulldogs, posting 12 or more points and six or more rebounds while notching a 10-for-11 mark from the free throw line in the team's first three games.
The Bulldogs, normally renowned for their ability to shoot the three-pointer, have been just as good as keeping their opponents from scoring from long range this season. Butler has averaged 6.0 treys per game while allowing its foes just 2.3 per contest, including 1-for-9 shooting by Ohio and 1-for-5 shooting by Bradley.
Butler heads south on Wednesday (Nov. 21) for the University of Miami Thanksgiving Tournament in Coral Gables, Fla. The Bulldogs take on Monmouth beginning at 5:00 p.m. on Friday (Nov. 23) before battling either Fordham or host Miami (Fla.) on Saturday (Nov. 24).
Freshman Brittany Bowen has been one of the biggest surprised for the Bulldogs so far this season, averaging 7.3 points and 4.3 rebounds in her first three collegiate contests.
Cleveland State
Junior guard Dominique Butler posted three steals Saturday against Akron, which was the 38th time in her career, including the second in as many games this season, that she has notched more than one steal.
After two games at home to open the season, CSU begins a stretch of playing seven of its next eight games away from Cleveland when it travels to the Carrs/Great Alaska Shootout on Tuesday and Wednesday. The lone home game in the stretch is a Nov. 26 home game against Ohio.
The Vikings held their first double-digit lead (28-16) against Akron at halftime and never let the Zips cut it under 10 points. CSU pushed its advantage to as many as 30 points in the second half.
Stephaine Crosley hit all three of her shots in 12 minutes of play against Akron. It was the second consecutive game that CSU had a player go a perfect 3-of-3 from the field as Natalie Miller accomplished the feat on Nov. 9 against Wisconsin.
Detroit
The Titans opened up their 2007-08 home schedule this past week and dropped a 65-54 decision to Eastern Michigan on Wednesday.
Senior center Katy Dunlop paced the Titans with nine points after shooting 3-of-7 from the field on Wednesday night, while senior India Bruster pulled down a team-high six rebounds. This season, Bruster has averaged 6.0 rebound per game through three contests.
Senior forward Joyce Massey came off the bench to collect eight points for the Titans in 24 minutes of play. Freshman guard Kealy McNally also came off the bench and added six points after shooting 2-of-3 from the field. Junior guard Zemora Davis continued her perfection at the free-throw line as she made both of her attempts against the Eagles. This season, Davis is 6-for-6 from the line.
Green Bay
The Phoenix overcame an early double-figure deficit against Missouri State to post a 78-68 win on the road. Junior guard Rachel Porath led the way with a career-high 20 points on 7-of-9 shooting, including 4-of-6 from three-point range and just missed a double-double with a game-best nine rebounds. Senior guard Kayla Groh added 15 points in the win, while junior center Lavesa Glover and junior guard Kati Harty each chipped in 12 points.
Dating back to Jan. 1, 2002, Green Bay is 147-28 for an .840 winning percentage.
Green Bay began the week by dropping a 79-70 decision to Illinois State on the road. It was the first loss for the Phoenix in five games against the Redbirds. Four players reached double figures for Green Bay, led by junior forward Erin Templin's career-high 13 points.
Loyola
The Ramblers went 0-2 this past week with losses at Marquette (82-69) and at home against Dayton (82-54).
In the loss to Dayton, sophomore forward Elyse Van Bogaert led Loyola with a career-high 17 points; she also added eight rebounds.
Against Marquette, sophomore gaurd Maggie McCloskey scored a game-high 17 points and teammate sophomore guard Keisha Collins added 15 and eight assists.
Milwaukee
The Panthers return to action against Dayton at 8 p.m. on Monday after an eight day layoff.
UWM began the season with an 88-76 win over Chicago State on Nov. 11 and set a school record for points in a season opener. The record had been 84 points by the 1982-83 squad. The Division I record was 77 by the 1995-96 team.
Junior center Traci Edwards had 30 points in that game, setting a school record for points in a season opener. Senior guard Aubri Rote added a career-high 20 points. It was the first time since Feb. 11, 2006 that Milwaukee had two 20-point scorers in the same game.
Rote finished the game 6-for-7 from three-point range. She is tied for sixth in three-pointers made in a game in school history. Edwards moved from 11th to eighth in school history in scoring over the weekend, pushing her career point total to 1,156. She also moved to fifth on UWM's Division I scoring list.
UIC
UIC beat Northwestern for the first time since the 2004-05 season on Nov. 14 at the Pavilion. The Flames pulled down 84 rebounds, including 28 offensive boards in two games.
UIC dropped a 69-62 decision to Bradley on Saturday. Although their effort fell short, the Flames cut the Bradley lead down to two points after trailing by as many as 17 points in the second half against the Braves.
Sophomore guard Jessie Miller averaged 16.5 points per game with 10 rebounds, three treys, five steals and three assists in two games. Sophomore Briana Hinkle also chipped in by averaging 16 points per game last week.
Freshman guard Ashley Tomzik made her collegiate debut against Bradley after breaking her nose last month. Tomzik shot 50 percent from the field and totaled six points. She also added a steal and an assist against the Braves.
Valparaiso
No. 20 Purdue scored with a basket with 19.8 seconds remaining to defeat Valpo 65-62 on Monday. Junior forward Sarah Ott had her first career double double (10 points, 10 rebounds) at Xavier on Sunday.
Three of Valpo's first four opponents have been ranked or getting votes in the polls.
Junior guard Launa Hochstetler scored 17 points at Purdue while freshman guard Rashida Ray had a career-high 12 points at Cincinnati on Friday.
Wright State
Freshman guard Sheylani Peddy had 12 points, five rebounds and four assists against Ball State on Monday and then scored 14 points with five rebounds and three steals at Eastern Michigan on Saturday.
Wright State takes on its third straight Mid-American Conference foe on Wednesday at Miami before heading to California this weekend for the Cal Poly Holiday Beach Classic. The Raiders face the host Mustangs on Saturday and North Dakota State on Sunday.
Youngstown State
Junior guard Kelsey Gurganus scored in double figures for the first time in a YSU uniform with 11 points against Niagara.
Senior forward Jessica Schloemp extended her consecutive games played streak to 75.
Senior guard Lauren Branson dished out six assists and now has 336 career assists. She needs 41 more to move into sixth place on the YSU all-time list and 64 more to become the sixth player in school history to tally 400 assists in a career.
