Horizon League Women's Soccer Players of the Week (October 16)

INDIANAPOLIS –IUPUI forward Krissy Kirkhoff scored two goals and had three assists this week extending the Jaguars’ winning streak to 12-straight games and is named this week’s Offensive Player of the Week. UIC defender Emily Valentine earns Horizon League Defensive Player of the Week by leading the Flames to a 2-1 victory over conference opponent Youngstown State.

Kirkhoff helped extend the Jaguars’ winning streak to 12 straight, tying the program’s all-time record. She tied the school record with three assists in a game in the Jaguars’ 4-3 win over Wright State, including assisting on the game-winner in the 88th minute, which was followed up by scoring both goals in IUPUI’s 2-1 win over Fort Wayne on Sunday for her fifth career multi-goal game. Krissy now has five goals (three game-winners) and 10 assists on the season. Kirkhoff took over as IUPUI’s all-time leader in career points (77) and set a new single-season record for assists with 10 this season.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK | EMILY VALENTINE | UIC | SOPHOMORE | DEFENDER | ROCKFORD, ILL.
Valentine was responsible for scoring the game-winning goal in UIC's 2-1 win over Youngstown State. The goal came in the 68th minute off a penalty kick to improve to a perfect 3-for-3 in PK attempts this season, with all three of the efforts coming over the last five games. Defensively, she helped limit the Penguins to just 11 shots, an opponent low in conference play this season.
