Youngstown State 92, Wilberforce 71

Four players scored in double figures and the Youngstown State men's basketball team shot 52.8 percent from the field en route to a 92-71 win over Wilberforce on Friday afternoon at the Beeghly Center.

Junior Bobby Hain posted his sixth double-double of the season with 17 points and tied a career high with 17 rebounds.

Senior Shawn Amiker scored 15 points, junior Shaun Stewart tied a career high with 14 points and sophomore Marcus Keene added 13 points with six assists.

All 11 players that saw action for the Penguins scored against the Bulldogs.

The Penguins improve to 8-6 overall and Head Coach Jerry Slocum recorded his 696th career win. He needs just four more to reach 700.

Leading the Bulldogs, who fall to 4-11, was Devontae Berry with 14 points on 7-of-11 shooting from the field. Malik Breckinridge scored 13 points off the bench while Keenan Smith and Patrick Mitchell added 12 and 10 points, respectively.

The Bulldogs scored the first five points of the game before the Penguins went on a 9-0 to take a 9-5 lead just four minutes into the game.

Wilberforce hung in tough and trailed by one, 24-23, but the Penguins used a 10-0 run to boost its lead to 11 points, 34-23, after an layup by Amiker at the 5:03 mark.

After a jumper by Mitchell, YSU scored eight straight points on layups by Fletcher Larson, Hain, Cameron Morse and Sidney Umude to push the lead to 17, 42-25.

The Penguins shot 60 percent in the second half and extended its lead to 20, 55-35, after a 3-pointer by Keene at the 15:59 mark.

YSU lead by  as many as 25, 83-58, after a jumper by Stewart with 3:08 left, and, at 88-63, on Larson's three-point play with 2:04 left in the game.
