GREENCASTLE, Ind. -- The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee sits atop the men's and women's standings after Day One of the 2009 Horizon League Indoor Track & Field Championships. The final day of action is set for Sunday at DePauw University.

On the men's side, Milwaukee (44 points) leads Youngstown State University (28), Butler University (25), the University of Detroit Mercy (20), the University of Illinois at Chicago (18), Loyola University Chicago (15) and Valparaiso University (4).

On the women's side, the Panthers (58 points) are being chased by Youngstown State (47), UIC (29), Valparaiso (18), Loyola (14), Detroit (10), Butler (8) and Wright State University (2).

Saturday's action featured three new Indoor Championship records. Butler senior Andy Baker, senior Tyler Kos, junior Joe MacDonald and junior Steve Lisgo turned in a 9:53.82 in the distance medley relay, while UIC senior Mike Savegnago recorded a mark of 4.90 meters in the pole vault and Valparaiso senior Laura Rolf posted a time of 16:53.16 in the 5,000 meter.

Other men's event champions included Youngstown State freshman Kiplangat Tisia in the 5,000 meter (14:24.21), Milwaukee freshman Jake Whitewater in the long jump (7.00 meters) and Youngstown State senior Joe Lahmon in the weight throw (18.73 meters).

Other women's event champions included Milwaukee's distance medley relay team (12:12.77), Milwaukee junior Erin Havener in the pole vault (3.55 meters), Youngstown State junior Alisha Anthony in the long jump (5.70 meters) and UIC junior Monique Bostert in the weight throw (17.26 meters).

Savegnago took two of four events in the heptathlon (60 meter and shot put), while UIC freshman Aimee Schuh claimed three of five competitions in the pentathlon (60-meter hurdles, 800 meter and long jump).

Sunday's competition is slated to begin at 9 a.m. ET.
