Horizon League Men's Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week

 

Jimel Denham            

Loyola, So., Round Lake Beach, Ill.

Denham continued his impressive debut season with the Maroon and Gold at the Iowa State Classic in Ames, Iowa. He ran a season-best time of 7.02 in the 55-meter dash and posted a mark of 21.91 in the 200m, good for second place in school history. Denham also was a part of LU's 4x400-relay team that captured sixth place in school annals with a time of 3:17.37.

Joy VanLaanen

UW-Milwaukee, So., Green Bay, Wis.

VanLaanen crushed a school pole vault record by clearing 12-11 1/2 in the event at the Iowa State Cyclone Classic. Despite finishing second in the event, her mark equaled the NCAA provisional standard and is tops in the League by almost two feet.  VanLaanen's previous presonal record was 11-7 3/4, while the UW-Milwaukee record had been 12-1 3/4.

Gabe Wagoner

UW-Milwaukee, Sr., Peshtigo, Wis.

Wagoner ran the third-fastest 800m time in school history at the Iowa State Cyclone Classic. He crossed the line in a league-best 1:50.76.

 

Brandon Cook

UIC, Sr., Decatur, Ill.

Cook had a stellar showing at the 2006 Lewis Invitational on Saturday, winning both the 55 and 200-meter dashes. Cook took first in the 55-meter race in a personal-best time of 6.52. He then sprinted to a first-place finish in the 200-meter dash in 22.44.

 

Adam Lewis

Youngstown State, Sr., McDonald, Ohio

Lewis broke his own school record in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.40 at the Sykes-Sabock Challenge Cup on Friday.

 

Marcus Davis

Detroit, So., Fairlawn, Ohio

Davis won the 600 meter race in Windsor with a time of 1:20.93. That was a personal record and the second best time by a Titan all-time.

 

Jessica Fouche

UIC, Sr., Chicago, Ill.

Fouche recorded the sprinting hat trick on Saturday at the Lewis Invitational in Romeoville, Ill. Fouche won the 55, 200 and 400-meter dashes at the event, marking the first time this season that she has captured all three titles in the same meet. Fouche crossed first in the 55-meter dash in 7.28 and then followed that up with a time of 25.71 in the 200-meter dash and

58.96 in the 400-meter race.

 

Bethany Anderson

Youngstown State, So., Jamestown, N.Y.

Bethany Anderson finished eighth in the weight throw (56-0) and ninth in the shot put (44-3 1/4) at the Sykes-Sabock Challenge Cup.

 

Marcia Faustin                       

Loyola, Jr., Orland Park, Ill.

Faustin placed her name in Loyola's record book in two categories at the Iowa State Classic last weekend. In the 200-meter dash, she crossed the finish line with a season-best time of 25.85, which puts her second in school history. Faustin also joined the 4x400-meter relay team that set a new LU record at a time of 3:57.06.

 

Andrea Karl

Detroit, Sr., Casco, Mich.

Karl set a Detroit Titan record while winning the 1000 meter race. Her time of 2:52.89 was the best by a Titan all-time in that race and was also a meet record.
