Men's Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week
Chris Smith, Butler, Sophomore, Chargrin Falls, Ohio
Smith broke Butler's school record in the 1,000-meter run, while placing sixth in the event at the Meyo Invitational. His time of 2:26.96 broke the previous Butler indoor record of 2:28, set by Nathan Dosanjh in 2002.

Women's Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week
Sarah Kemple, Butler, Freshman, Arlington, Ind.
Kemple ran the fastest 5,000-meter race in Butler history, while placing fourth at the Meyo Invitational. She finished the race in 17:03.82, breaking the previous Butler indoor record of 17:31, set by Erin Kelly in 1999, and topping the previous Butler outdoor mark of 17:08.46, set by Victoria Mitchell last spring.

Other Top Men's Performers
Marcus Davis, Detroit, Freshman, Fairlawn, Ohio
Davis put his name in to the record books as his time of 1:56.49 in the 800-meter is now the eighth fastest time in school history as well as the sixth fastest indoor time. Davis was eighth in the event overall. Davis combined with Eli Kafer, Eric Christy and Ryan Byrne in the 1,600-meter relay to finish second with a time of 3:20.62, marking the sixth fastest indoor time in school history.

Marcus Lesley, UIC, Junior, Markham, Ill.
Lesley turned in a pair of top three finishes to help the Flames to a third-place finish at the Tadd Metzger Invitational, hosted by Carthage, on Saturday afternoon. Lesley won the 55-meter hurdles event with a time of 7.68 and added a third-place mark in the 55-meter dash with a time of 6.5.

Justin Gorman, UW-Milwaukee, Sophomore, Spring Valley, Wis.
In his first collegiate attempt at the indoor mile, Gorman topped the field in the event at the Northern Iowa Classic. He posted a time of 4:18.05 which just missed out on the school's all-time top 10, while being the top time posted in the League this season.

Other Top Women's Performers
Jennifer Frierson, Detroit, Junior, Ypsilanti, Mich.
Frierson broke her own school record in the 60-meter hurdles Saturday as the Titans women's track and field team ran at the Akron Open. Frierson ran the 60-meter distance in a time of 8.78, breaking her old mark of 8.84 set last season. She was third in the event overall.

Jenni Goebel, UIC, Senior, Lombard, Ill.
Goebel picked up a pair of top-two finishes to lead the University of Illinois at Chicago women's track and field squad to a fifth-place finish at the Tadd Metzger Invitational hosted by Carthage College on Saturday afternoon. Goebel took home the 5,000-meter run title with a time of 17:41.79, while adding a runner-up finish in the 3,000-meter run with a season-best time of 10:25.18.

Tenia Fisher, UW-Milwaukee, Junior, Milwaukee, Wis.
Fisher finished fourth in the 400-meter at the Northern Iowa Classic, but did so in grand fashion. She broke the school record of 57.23 in the event with her time of 57.10, while also establishing a season-best time in the League by over two seconds. At the meet, she also ran with the 4x400-meter relay that took fifth in 3:56.56.

Casanav Simmons, Wright State, Freshman, Columbus, Ohio
Simmons boasted top Raider finishes in the 200 and 400-meter dash with season-best times of 26.85 and 1:00.13. Simmons won the 400-meter event and also helped the Raiders to the best finish (second) in the five-year team history of the program.

Danielle Bolt, Youngstown State, Sophomore, Mattapan, Mass.
Bolt won the 60-meter dash in a school-record time of 7.56 seconds on Saturday at the Akron Open. She also set a personal-best time in the 200 with a time of 25.05 to place second.
