Male Athlete of the Week

 

Scott Overall

Butler

Sr., Twickenham, Middlesex, U.K.

Overall finished second in the mile at the Gladstein Invitational hosted by Indiana University. The Butler senior finished in 4:01.72, coming in just 0.16 seconds behind individual champ Lex Williams of Michigan. Overall's performance bettered the NCAA Provisional Qualifying time, and is currently the Horizon League top time.

 

Female Athlete of the Week

 

Timeka Walker

UW-Milwaukee

Sr., Milwaukee, Wis.

Walker topped the field in both the 60 meters and 200 meters at Wisconsin's Madison Elite Invitational, a non-scoring meet. She ran a time of :7.69 in the 60 meters. In the 200 meters, she crossed the line in :25.60. She remains undefeated through three events this season.

 

Other Men's Top Performers for the Week

 

Larry Ehrhorn

UW-Milwaukee

Jr., Madison, Wis.

Ehrhorn swept both throwing events last weekend at Wisconsin's Madison Elite Invitational, a non-scoring meet. He threw 51'0.75" in the shot put and 55'1.5" in the weight throw.  Ehrhorn has now won both events at each of his last two meets.

 

Nick Herold

Loyola

Fr., Oakdale, Minn.

Herold improved his school-record 60-meter dash record by :.01 to :6.94 to highlight an improved Rambler performance on Friday night at the Notre Dame Invitational. Herold took first place in the event and now owns the League's second-best performance in this young season. Herold's fourth-place :22.15 effort in the 200-meter dash also qualifies him as one of the League leaders.

 

Jim Sulzberger

UIC

Sr., Bishop McNamara

Sulzberger's sixth-place finish in the mile highlighted the Flames' performance on Saturday at the Wisconsin Elite Invitational. Sulzberger raced to a time of 4:33.67, just getting edged out by Arkansas State's Nathan Mattox (4:33.03) for fifth place.

Genni Gardner

Butler

Jr., Surrey, England

Gardner finished second in the mile at the Gladstein Invitational hosted by Indiana University.  She covered the distance in 4:54.01, finishing behind Collette Liss, who was running as an unattached entry. In adddition, she broke the Butler school record for the event, breaking the previous record of 4:54.12 set by Mary Reeves in 2003.

 

Tiffany Brigham

Wright State

Fr., Springfield, Ohio

Brigham broke her third school record of the season on Friday at the Cedarville Invitational, helping the Raiders to a third-place team showing. The freshman posted a second-place finish in the 55-meter dash, posting a time of :7.29 to set the WSU school record. In the 200-meter dash, Brigham again finished second, posting a time of :26.22. She also helped the 4x400-meter relay team place fifth out of 16 teams.

 

Marcia Faustin

Loyola

Sr., Orland Park, Ill.

Marcia Faustin led the women's team at the Notre Dame Invitational with an impressive performance in the high jump and anchored a top relay finish. Faustin jumped 5'5" for seventh place then ran a :57.3 split to lead off Loyola's second-place 4x400-meter relay (4:03.58).
