INDIANAPOLIS—UIC’s Kei Ishimaru (Sycamore, Ill.) and Valparaiso’s Dani Gomez Barrientos (Mexico City, Mexico) have been named the Horizon League Men’s and Women’s Swimmers of the Week while UIC’s Tyler Pastore (Lockport, Ill.) and Whitney Johnson (Roscoe, Ill.) have been named Horizon League Men’s and Women’s Divers of the Week for the week of Jan. 6-12.

Ishimaru led UIC to victory in a dual meet against Green Bay this past weekend. The junior won three individual events at the event to tab his first weekly honor of the season. In the 200-Buttlerfly, Ishimaru won with a time of 1:52.5 while also placing at the top of the podium in the 100-Butterfly in a time of 50.69. In his third first-place finish of the day, the junior hit the matt in the 200-Individual Medley with a time of 1:55.80.

Gomez Barrientos scored in three events for Valparaiso in the squad’s meet versus Rose-Hulman in which the team won with 193 points. The freshman won the 200-Freestyle with a time of 1:59.37 and was a member of the winning 400-Freestyle Relay squad that finished in a time of 3:50.25. Gomez Barrientos set the third fastest time in school history in the 100-Butterfly as the only swimmer at the meet to finish in under a minute with a time of 58.75.

Pastore garned his first weekly accolade after competing against fellow Horizon League divers in the dual meet against Green Bay. The sophomore scored 271.20 points on the one-meter board but captured first-place on the three-meter. His winning performance earned him a total of 307.88 points.

Johnson picked-up her second diver of the week honor this season after collecting a first and second place finish against the Phoenix. On the one-meter, the senior tallied 248.33 points good for second and won the three-meter with a score of 274.80.

Valparaiso and Green Bay square off in a dual match on Friday, Jan. 16 hosted by the Crusaders at 4:00 p.m. ET. Valparaiso then heads to Chicago, Ill. to face UIC on Saturday for a dual meet beginning at 1:00 p.m. ET.
