Indianapolis, Ind. -- The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee added two more accolades to its women's soccer legacy this week, as the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) announced its men's and women's Scholar All-America teams. The awards, sponsored by adidas, recognize outstanding achievement both on the field and in the classroom.

Milwaukee goalkeeper Erin Kane and midfielder Sarah Teegarden were named to the NSCAA's Third-Team Scholar All-America honor roll. The Panther teammates were two of only ten juniors honored by the association.

Kane led the League with a 0.73 goals-against average and ten shutouts, extending her own League record to 36 clean sheets in her career. Her efforts helped the Panthers post a 13-4-4 overall record in 2007, including an undefeated (7-0-1) loop mark. In the classroom, Kane boasts a 3.35 grade-point average as a pre-veterinary medicine major and earned Academic All-Horizon League honors this fall.

Teegarden scored three goals while anchoring the midfield for Milwaukee, helping the Panthers to their eighth consecutive regular-season League title. Her academic accomplishments include a 3.46 GPA as an education major. Teegarden is a two-time member of the Horizon League's Academic Honor Roll.

Teegarden and Kane each earned First-Team All-League honors on the field for the third consecutive year in 2007 and could become part of an exclusive group next year. Only five players in League history have gained First-Team All-League honors four times.

The Panthers' recognition marks the fifth consecutive year a Horizon League player has received the honor from the NSCAA. Milwaukee defender Ginny Graczyk and University of Detroit Mercy forward Mary Parker were Second- and Third-Team choices, respectively, last fall, with University of Wisconsin-Green Bay midfielder Sarah Oligney tabbed to the Second Team in 2005. On the men's side, Milwaukee defender Billy Meier received Second-Team recognition in 2006, following in the footsteps of UWM midfielder Neil Dombrowski (Second-Team in 2005) and Panther forward Antou Jallow (Third-Team in 2003 and 2004).

Florida State University and the University of Texas each had two players honored on the First Team, with junior defender Katrin Schmidt and senior midfielder Kirsten van de Ven representing FSU and junior defender Stephanie Logterman and senior forward Kelsey Carpenter wearing Texas colors. The 13-player First Team also featured UCLA senior goalkeeper Valerie Henderson, Brigham Young University senior goalkeeper Erika Woodbury, and senior defenders Becky Sauerbrunn of the University of Virginia and Sue Weber from Hofstra University.

The rest of the First Team included senior midfielders Ashley Banks of West Virginia University, Stacy Bishop from the University of Florida and Meghan Schnur from the University of Connecticut. Senior forwards Aubrey Aden-Buie from Penn State University and Christy Zwolski of Marquette University rounded out the First Team.

All of the honored players will be invited to the NSCAA All-America Luncheon, which will be held on Saturday, Jan. 19, as part of the 2008 NSCAA Convention in Baltimore.
