Milwaukee, Wis. - Goalkeeper Erin Kane and midfielder Sarah Teegarden, both sophomores on the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's soccer team, were selected to a pool for the U.S. National Women's Select Team.

The pair won the Region II USASA Tournament over Memorial Day weekend in Blaine, Minn., with their team from Illinois. At the tournament, they were evaluated by regional and national coaches and selected for the pool. Their team will now compete in the George F. Donnelly Cup in January at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif.

The United States Adult Soccer Association's (USASA) Select Teams Program provides players the opportunity to compete at the highest available level within the USASA, in addition to identifying and showcasing players for the next level of competition. The program not only provides competitions for individuals but also determines a Regional and National State Select Teams Champion. The program serves as training ground for the U-16 through U-23 U.S. National Teams.

Joy Fawcett, Julie Foudy, Brandi Chastain and Tiffany Millbrett are among those players who have been participants of the USASA's Select Teams Program. From the UWM soccer program, the pair joins Fanta Cooper in having also made it to the national pool.

Both Kane and Teegarden were All-Horizon League First Team honorees as freshmen and later selected to Freshman All-America Teams. Kane was a first team honoree from Soccer America in addition to earning a place on Soccer Buzz's Third-Team All-America squad, while Teegarden received Honorable Mention from Soccer Buzz.
