INDIANAPOLIS -- Youngstown State University sophomore Kara Cooper has been named Horizon League Women's Soccer Player of the Week for the period of Aug. 17-23.
Cooper, a native of Youngstown, Ohio, recorded two goals and one assist in two games for the Penguins last week. She also took six shots, including five on goal.
All five of Cooper's points came on Sunday in a 4-2 victory at Howard University, which marked the Horizon League's first win of the 2009 campaign. Her five points and two goals were both single-game career bests.
Youngstown State (1-1-0) returns to action on Friday when it hosts Canisius College at 7 p.m. ET.
