INDIANAPOLIS -- UIC center Katie Hannemann and Green Bay’s Megan Lukan have been named the Horizon League women’s basketball Co-Players of the Week, while Loyola guard Taylor Johnson has been named the Newcomer of the Week.

Hannemann scored a career-high 35 points in UIC’s 81-78 overtime win over Wright State on Thursday. The Homer Glen, Ill., native’s 35 points tied for the most by a Horizon League player in League games this season and also was the most single game points by a UIC women’s basketball player since Jan. 19, 2002. She also corralled a career-high 15 rebounds in the game as the Flames overcame a 17-point second half deficit to win. On Saturday, Hannemann helped UIC overcome a double-digit second half deficit again as she scored 16 points. For the weekend, Hannemann averaged 25.5 ppg., and 9.5 rpg., as she connected on 46.8% (17-35) of her field goal attempts and 81% (17-21) of her free throw attempts.

UIC (9-16, 5-7) will look to continue to climb the standings this week, but it will be tough as the Flames face the teams 1-2 in the current Horizon League standings. UIC starts the week with a trip to Youngstown State (18-7, 8-4) on Thursday and returns home to host 25th-ranked Green Bay (22-2, 12-0) on Saturday.

Lukan scored a career-high 22 points to lead Green Bay to a victory over Valparaiso on Saturday. The win clinched the Phoenix at least a share of the Horizon League regular season title. It marks the 15th consecutive season Green Bay will have at least shared the regular season crown. UIC’s win over Detroit later in the day on Saturday guaranteed Green Bay would be the No. 1 seed in the Horizon League tournament. The Barrie, Ontario, native was 8-of-13 from the field against Valparaiso, in scoring her 22 points. The sophomore entered the Valpo game having only connected on six three-pointers all season, but was 4-of-8 from long range against the Crusaders. She also grabbed three rebounds and passed out four assists against no turnovers.

Green Bay (22-2, 12-0) needs one more win - or a Youngstown State loss - to clinch the regular season title outright. The Phoenix have two road games this week to try to get that accomplished. They play at Detroit (14-10, 7-5) on Thursday and at UIC on Saturday.

Johnson won her second consecutive Newcomer of the Week award and sixth of the season after helping lead the Ramblers to two wins against teams ahead of them in the League standings. On Thursday, the Frankfort, Ill., native had 22 points and four steals as Loyola defeated Detroit, 91-81, on Saturday, Johnson recorded her fifth double-double of the season, scoring 14 points and pulling down 10 rebounds as the Ramblers knocked off Youngstown State, 67-59. Loyola has won five straight games and has jumped from ninth place in the League standings to a tie for third.

Loyola (12-13, 7-5) is in action twice this week, playing at Cleveland State (12-14, 4-9) on Monday night and hosting Milwaukee (8-16, 4-8) on Thursday.
