INDIANAPOLIS -- Wright State guard Kim Demmings has been named the Horizon League women’s basketball Player of the Week, while teammate Tayler Stanton has been named the Newcomer of the Week.

Demmings, a native of Richmond, Ind., averaged 30.0 points, 8.0 rebounds and 6.5 assists in two Wright State wins last week. The 2012-13 Preseason Player of the Year in the Horizon League was one assist short of a triple-double in Wright State’s 78-61 win over Urbana on Wednesday, finishing with 31 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists.

On Saturday, Demmings scored 29 points to lead Wright State to a come-from-behind win at Xavier. The Raiders trailed by 15 points at halftime, and after going on an 18-0 run to take a brief lead, still found themselves down 60-57 with a little more than two minutes to go in the game. Demmings tied the game with a three-point play, and after Xavier hit two free throws, Demmings would complete another three-point play with :57.1 seconds left to give WSU a lead it would not relinquish. Demmings had a steal on Xavier’s next possession to finished the game with 29 points, six rebounds and four assists as the Raiders won their third straight game.

Stanton, a sophomore from Cincinnati, Ohio, had 14 rebounds in both of Wright State’s games last week. Stanton started the week with 13 points and 14 rebounds - the first double-double of her collegiate career - in WSU’s win over Urbana on Wednesday. Stanton had six points, including two game-clinching free throws with :4.7 seconds left,  14 rebounds and three blocked shots in Wright State’s 66-62 win at Xavier on Saturday.

Top Performers for the Week:
Shareta Brown, Detroit (So., F) - Brown had a school-record 43 points, shooting 17-of-22 from the field and 9-of-10 from the free throw line, in Detroit’s 101-50 win over Lourdes (Ohio) on Monday.

Angela Rodriguez, Milwaukee (Jr., G) - Rodriguez scored a career-high 30 points in Milwaukee’s lost at DePaul on Tuesday. She was 12-of-23 from the field, including 6-of-12 from three-point range.

Shalonda Winton, Cleveland State (Sr., F) - Winton had her seventh double-double of the season - 17 points and 13 rebounds - in CSU’s 66-59 win at Tennessee State.

Taylor Foulks, UIC (Sr., G) - Foulks had a game-high 15 points and also grabbed nine rebounds and passed out five assists in UIC’s 90-67 win over Roosevelt on Friday.

Brandi Brown, Youngstown State (Sr., F) - Brown surpassed the 1,600 mark in career points in YSU’s game at #25/22 West Virginia on Sunday. She scored 11 of 12 points in the second half and tied for game-high honors with three steals.

Top Newcomers for the Week:
Terri Bender, UIC (Fr., G) - Bender had career-highs in points (11), rebounds (8) and assists (6) in UIC’s win over Roosevelt on Friday.

Rosanna Reynolds, Detroit (Fr., G) - Reynolds scored 13 points, shooting 6-of-9 from the field, in UDM’s 101-50 win over Lourdes.

Shar’Rae Davis, Youngstown State (Fr., G) - Davis had eight points, three assists and tied for game-high honors with three steals in YSU’s loss at West Virginia.
