INDIANAPOLIS - Cleveland State senior Kailey Klein has been named Horizon League Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the period of Feb. 22-28. The selection marks Klein's fourth weekly honor from the League office this season and the ninth of her career.
Klein, a guard from Cherry, Ill., averaged 28.5 points, 12.0 rebounds and 2.5 steals in a pair of Horizon League victories last week. She knocked down 16-of-33 (.485) from the field, 2-of-6 (.333) from beyond the arc and 23-of-24 (.958) from the free-throw line.
Klein recorded 32 points and 10 rebounds in a 70-60 win on Thursday over League-leading Detroit. She then added 25 points and 14 boards in a Senior Day victory on Saturday over Wright State.
Klein continues to lead Cleveland State in scoring average (17.7), rebounds per game (7.6), field goals (161), three-point buckets (36), free throws (121), blocked shots (20) and minutes played (980). Her scoring average also tops the conference.
Cleveland State, 15-12 overall and 10-6 in conference play, wraps up the regular season at Milwaukee on Thursday at 8 p.m. ET and Green Bay on Saturday at 3 p.m. The Vikings can secure a top four seed and quarterfinal home game by splitting their final two affairs.
