INDIANAPOLIS -- Cleveland State junior Kara Koch has been named Horizon League Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week, while Milwaukee senior Morgan Potter has earned Defensive Player of the Week honors for the period of Oct. 3 - Oct. 9.

Koch, an outside hitter from West Salem, Ohio, recorded two double-doubles last week as Cleveland State won three road matches to solidify its hold on second place in the league. Koch had 23 kills and 21 digs in the Vikings’ five-set come-from-behind win over Valparaiso on Saturday. The 23 kills were the most this season for Koch. She followed that performance up with a 16-kill, 17-dig game at UIC in Cleveland State’s sweep of the Flames. Both the kills and digs were team-highs.

Koch and Cleveland State host Wright State on Friday and Butler on Saturday as the Vikings look to improve on their 6-1 conference record.

Potter, a libero from Stoughton Wis., who was recognized as Horizon League Defensive Player of the Week in mid-September, had 53 digs (6.62 per set) in helping the first place Panthers remain undefeated in conference play. Potter had 32 digs, the fourth-most in a five-set match in school history, as Milwaukee came back from a 2-0 deficit to defeat Valparaiso on Wednesday. Potter’s performance against the Crusaders gives her over 1,000 career digs, making her just the ninth player in school history to reach that milestone.

Milwaukee is on the road this week as the Panthers face Loyola on Friday night and then travel to Green Bay to play the Phoenix on Saturday.

Other Top Performers for the Week:

Maureen Bamiro, Butler (Sr., MB) - Bamiro averaged 3.90 kills per set and hit .395 as Butler went 3-0 last week. She had 17 kills and hit .452 in the Bulldogs’ three-set win over Green Bay.

Elizabeth Egerer, Milwaukee (Jr., OH) - Egerer had a career-best 23 kills in the Panthers’ five-set win over Valparaiso.

Kelly Mischler, Green Bay (Sr., MH) - Mischler tied the school record with nine blocks in Green Bay’s three-set loss to Cleveland State. She also had eight blocks in Green Bay’s three-set win over Youngstown State.
