INDIANAPOLIS - Milwaukee junior Cole Kraft has been named the Horizon League Batter of the Week while Wright State senior Alex Kaminsky garners Pitcher of the Week honors for the period of May 10-16.
Kraft helped his Panther squad to a 3-1 record in league action this week, hitting 9-for-16 in those games. For the week, Kraft belted two homeruns, recorded seven RBI, seven runs and amassed a slugging percentage of .800. The Menomonie, Wis., native, posted four multiple hit games among his five games played, totaling a hitting percentage of .450.
UWM sits in second place in the current Horizon League standings with a 14-8 conference mark, 26-22 overall.
Kaminsky’s 13 strikeouts against Cleveland State this past weekend nearly tied this season’s league-high of 14. The Fostoria, Ohio, native, notched the complete-game win, allowing a mere four hits, one walk and two earned runs. The senior now ranks second in conference in strikeouts (82) and innings pitched (84.2).
Wright State clinched the Horizon League regular-season title and the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament that begins Wednesday, May 26.
