CHICAGO - Loyola University Chicago senior Kat Krause has been selected ESPN The Magazine Third Team Academic All-America, it was announced today. The most prolific power hitter in school history, Krause is the first-ever Rambler softball student-athlete to earn Academic All-America honors.

This spring, Krause led Loyola with six home runs and a .457 slugging percentage, while batting .252 with eight doubles, 16 RBI and 14 stolen bases in 48 contests. She finished her career as Loyola's all-time leader in both home runs (32) and RBI (93) and also ranks fourth with 89 runs scored.

Off the field, Krause graduated with a degree in psychology, was a member of the Horizon League Academic Honor Roll, was a two-time U.S.Army Horizon League Female Scholar-Athlete of the Week honoree this year, and was a two-time ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District V selection in her career. She is only the third different Rambler to earn academic all-district honors on multiple occasions in her time on the Lake Shore Campus.

Loyola posted 22 wins this season, marking the ninth time in the last 10 years it has topped the 20-win plateau.
