INDIANAPOLIS – Valparaiso junior Kyle Henning has been named Horizon League Men’s Golfer of the Week, while Detroit senior Collette Hansen has been named Horizon League Women’s Golfer of the Week.
Henning finished in a tie for third at the Beu Mussatto Invitational at Henry Mussatto GC in Macomb, Ill., last weekend. The junior shot an opening round 71 and followed that performance up with rounds of 73 and 75 to finish with a three-day score of 219. He finished two shots behind the event champion. The Brookfield, Wis., native recorded seven birdies at the Invitational, including five in the first round.
The Crusaders finished in sixth place out of 12 teams. Valparaiso returns to the links on Saturday when it travels to Peoria, Ill., to compete in the Hotels at Grand Prairie Invitational.
Hansen won the Women’s Golfer of the Week award after helping lead the Titans to a second-place finish at the IPFW Spring Classic played at Brookwood Golf Club.Hansen recorded her third top-five finish of the spring as she shot a 77-76—153 to finish in fourth place in the event.
The University of Indianapolis won the event and had the three highest individual finishers. Hansen and the Titans finished in second place, eight strokes behind Indy.
Detroit is back in action on Monday when it travels to Lewiston, N.Y., to compete in the Purple Eagles Invitational at the Niagara Falls Country Club.

Mark Olbrych, Youngstown State (Jr.) - Olbrych finished in sixth place at the Villanova Wildcat Invitational with a three-round total of 220 following rounds of 77 and 69 on Monday and a 74 on Tuesday.
Alex Cusumano, Loyola (Jr.) – Cusumano finished in a tie for 17th place at the FAU Spring Break Championship, finishing the three-round event with scores of 71-72-76—219.
Cam Fuller, Green Bay (Sr.) – Fuller was the top Phoenix finisher at the Beu Mussatto Invitational as he finished with a three-round score of 232 to finish in a tie for 43rd place.
Kelly Voigt, Valparaiso (Jr.) – Voigt paced the Crusaders to a seventh-place team finish as she scored a two-round total of 156 to finish in a tie for 10th at the IPFW Spring Classic.
Bernice Sitompul, Loyola (Fr.) – Sitompul shaved four shots off her first round score to finish with a two-round total of 158 to finish in a tie for 18th place at the IPFW Spring Classic.
