Men's Soccer

Men's soccer is in full swing this week and even though the Green Bay Phoenix got some pre-season national love the Butler Bulldogs were picked by the HL coaches to finish first.

It's great to see feature stories on some school's websites this fall. GreenBayPhoenix.com has a nice piece up on men's soccer star JC Banks and his family. Little known fact: The reigning men's soccer player of the year's dad played in the 1990 World Cup after a stellar career at Milwaukee.

This is a couple weeks old but thought it was worth linking. collegesoccernews.com released the top 40 recruiting classes of 2010 and two Horizon League schools made the cut. Butler comes in at #33 and Wright State grabbed one of the #40 spots. (There are three teams listed at 40).

On top of that lofty ranking by collegesoccernews.com, they also named Wright State freshman Derek Zuniga one of the 100 Freshmen to Keep An Eye On.

Women's Soccer

Another good soccer piece, this time from Cleveland, where women's soccer player Jessica McCloy is entering her sixth year of collegiate soccer. Knee injuries and a change of scenery haven't stopped the Cincinnati native.

Volleyball

Volleyball season is also well underway this week. At Wright State, there are two freshmen that don't have to worry about memorizing every new teammates' names.

Out of Season

Catching up with a couple former HL basketball players. Former Butler forward Willie Veasley signed to play in Japan and former CSU great Kailey Klein signed to play in Romania.

Lastly, ESPNChicago.com has done a great job covering UIC and their coaching search. They have two articles up this week on new coach Howard Moore's staff hirings.

- UIC's Moore forges Chicago Public League bond
