INDIANAPOLIS -- Green Bay junior Carmen Leitermann has been named Horizon League Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week, while Milwaukee senior Mackenzie Millis has earned Defensive Player of the Week honors for the period of Sept. 26 - Oct. 2.

Leitermann, a middle blocker from Schofield, Wis., had 26 kills last week as Green Bay won both of its matches. Leitermann had a season-high 20 kills on Friday night as Green Bay battled back from a two-set deficit to defeat Loyola on the road, 3-2. The Phoenix junior committed just two errors and had a. 529 hitting percentage while also contributing three digs and six blocks in Green Bay’s comeback. For the week, Leitermann had a .523 hitting percentage with 26 kills and just three errors.

Leitermann and her Green Bay (6-10, 2-2) teammates have a busy week ahead of them as they are scheduled to play four conference matches. They start by hosting Cleveland State (10-5, 3-1) on Tuesday and Youngstown State (1-15, 0-4) on Wednesday. The Phoenix then travel to play Wright State (2-15, 1-4) on Friday and Butler (5-12, 1-4) on Saturday.

Millis, a middle blocker from Black River Falls Wis., had 11 blocks (1.83 per set) in helping the first place Panthers win two matches on the road last weekend. Millis was part of a Milwaukee defense that limited its two opponents to a .064 hitting percentage. Millis started the weekend with a six-block performance as the Panthers swept Cleveland State in a matchup of the league’s only two remaining undefeated teams. On Saturday, she had five blocks as Milwaukee swept Youngstown State and held the Penguins to a -.018 hitting clip. It marks the first time since 2007 that Milwaukee has held a league opponent to a negative hitting percentage.

Milwaukee (13-4, 6-0) hosts UIC (11-5, 4-1) on Tuesday night and Valparaiso (13-6, 4-1) on Wednesday night.

Other Top Performers for the Week:

Cat Languido, Loyola (Sr., L) - Languido had a career-high 34 digs in Loyola’s five-set loss to Green Bay.

Rachel Neuberger, Milwaukee (So., MB) - Neuberger, the conference leader in hitting percentage, hit .457 this weekend and did not commit an error in 35 attempts. She averaged 2.67 kills per set as the Panthers swept Cleveland State and Youngstown State.

Taylor Root, Valparaiso (Jr., L) - Root had 32 digs, seven assists and two service aces last weekend as Valparaiso defeated Wright State and Butler.

Kelsey Safranek, UIC (Jr., OH) - Safranek had 40 kills (5.0 per set) as the Flames defeated Butler and Wright State last week.
