INDIANAPOLIS -- Butler University junior Susan Lester has been named Horizon League Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the period of Feb. 9-15. The selection marks Lester's fifth career weekly honor from the League office and her second this season.

A native of Anderson, Ind., Lester averaged 19.0 points, 10.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 4.0 steals in two Horizon League games last week. The forward made 14-of-26 (.538) from the floor, 2-of-5 (.400) from three-point range and 8-of-11 (.727) from the free-throw stripe.

Lester helped the Bulldogs to a 68-49 victory at the University of Illinois at Chicago on Thursday and 71-63 win at Loyola University Chicago on Saturday.

Butler, which has won 12 of its last 14 contests, is now 16-8 overall and 11-2 in Horizon League play. The Bulldogs have already surpassed their 2007-08 conference victory total (10) and are closing in on last year's overall win total (20).

Lester has averaged 16.4 points and 7.6 rebounds during her last seven games after averaging just 7.4 points and 5.0 rebounds during her first 17 contests this season.

Butler continues to occupy second place in the Horizon League standings, two games behind the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay (21-3, 13-0). The Bulldogs are idle until Saturday when they travel to Valparaiso University (12-11, 7-6) for a 2:35 p.m. ET contest.
