Well here we are in the midst another basketball season. At this point in the year we have already played seven games and are sitting at 4-3. Seven games may not sound like much, but it's actually a little less than a quarter of our season.
In that short amount of time I have already traveled through five states and been to Mexico! The one thing I have learned after being in college athletics for the last fifteen years is that there is never a dull moment, and traveling seems to be the one constant that never changes. No matter what level or what sport, you will be on the road at some point. It has changed a lot since I began...I remember driving vans to every game for my first seven years. In fact, back then you actually called for directions or even used a MAP!
I'm sure some of you are wondering how we even got around like that back in the dark ages! There were times in the mountains where I drove through downpours and ice storms. Win, lose, or draw we still had to hit the road.
Traveling is a little different these days. We travel in a bus the girls have affectionately named the "Rock Star" bus. Each player and coach has a comfy lounge chair. The coaches up front are separated from the players in the back by a divider. There are two satellite TVs on it and there's even wireless internet. I honestly have to say, going on the road isn't such a bad thing anymore. Now after every game we still travel, but I get to leave the driving up to a professional!
