PENDLETON, Ind. - Loyola University Chicago homered three times in the first inning and Krista Crosson allowed just four hits as the Ramblers blanked the University of Detroit Mercy 8-0 in five innings Thursday in the third game of the Horizon League Softball Championship at Legends Field in Pendleton, Ind.

Solo home runs by Lauren Arceneaux, Jenna Grim and Amy Solava gave the fourth-seeded Ramblers (27-22) the early lead, and Crosson (12-8) did the rest. She struck out five, walked one and allowed only one Detroit runner as far as third base.

Loyola added four more runs in the bottom of the fourth. Haley Ambrosch had a two-RBI single down the left-field line, Solava plated another run, and Ambrosch scored on a throwing error by Detroit reliever Jill Perry.

Loyola advances to play third-seeded Wright State University this evening at 8 p.m. ET.

Detroit (7-41) will await the loser of today's University of Wisconsin-Green Bay-University of Illinois at Chicago game in the consolation bracket Friday at 11 a.m. ET.
