Loyola Captures First-Ever Horizon League Women's Golf Title

Galena, OH - Loyola captured its first-ever Horizon League Women's Golf Championship on Tuesday at the Royal American Golf Course in Galena, Ohio.

The Ramblers overcame cold and wet conditions to finish with a one-stoke win over Butler for the title. Loyola tallied a three-round score of 1028 (342-331-355) for the tournament, while the Bulldogs carded a 1029 (341-339-349) to finish in second-place.

Youngstown State, the leader after day one, fell to third-place with a three round total of 1038 (337-334-367), while Cleveland State (367-363-390-1120) finished in the fourth spot.

Butler freshman Lynnsey Showers captured medalist honors with a tournament-best 239 (80-79-80). Rounding out the top five spots were Cleveland State's Kristen Obush (84-75-83-242), Loyola's Nicole Puch (85-77-87-249), Youngstown State's Gina Abruzzino (79-80-93-252) and Loyola's Marissa Capriola (85-82-88-255).
