CHICAGO, Ill. -- Loyola University Chicago coaches and staff members will be participating in events, clinics and demonstrations as part of the Chicago 2016 Olympic Day on Tuesday, June 23.

Chicago 2016 is staging a pair of free events -- a three-mile Fun Run and a lakefront sports extravaganza featuring a surprise concert -- as part of the city's celebration of Olympic Day.

Two runs will occur simultaneously along the lakefront path -- the Near North Fun Run, which starts at Irving Park Road, and the Downtown Fun Run, which starts at Balbo across from Grant Park. Each race begins at 6 p.m. and finishes at North Avenue Beach. Registration is free.

Also on June 23, from 6-10 p.m., North Avenue Beach will be transformed into a mini-Olympic Games. During that time, attendees can witness competitions and demonstrations of Olympic and Paralympic sports such as archery, kayaking, wheelchair basketball, volleyball and soccer.

Olympic Day is an annual celebration that unites millions of people across the globe to commemorate the birth of the modern Olympic Games.

To sign up for the Fun Runs, please visit www.chicago2016.org/olympic-day/sign-up.aspx
