CHICAGO- Horizon League All-Newcomer selection Audrey Davis pounded home 16 kills to lead fourth-seeded Loyola University Chicago over No. 5 University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, 3-2, on Friday night in the quarterfinals of the Horizon League Volleyball Championship.

Davis led four Ramblers with double-digit kills as Keily Zins, Hilary Stromath and Courtney Ashley each tallied 11 on the night. Ann Deelo notched a match-high 27 digs for the Rambler defense.

UW-Green Bay's Jackie Rosen led all players with 23 kills on the night, while Liesl Tesch added 13 kills for the Phoenix. Setter Betty Slinger fell two kills shy of her fourth triple-double of the season, finishing the night with eight kills, 55 assists and 12 digs.

The five-game win was the first such match of the season between the two teams. The Ramblers took a 3-0 win on the first weekend of League play, while the Phoenix earned a sweep of the Ramblers on Oct. 22.

Loyola jumped out of the gate quickly, taking game one, 30-26, behind five kills from All-Horizon League selection Courtney Ashley. However, the Phoenix battled back to win games two and three, 30-26 and 30-20. A block by Sarah Elmer gave the Ramblers a game four win, then an Audrey Davis kill on match point gave Loyola a trip to the semifinals where the Ramblers will face No. 1 seed University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

With the loss, UW-Green Bay finishes the season at 15-15.

The 2005 Horizon League Volleyball Championship will be held Thursday through Sunday, Nov. 17-20, at the Flames Center on the campus of University of Illinois at Chicago. The match will air live on Comcast Sports Net Chicago, Comcast Indianapolis and the Ohio News Network. WMLW-Milwaukee will tape delay the broadcast until 5 p.m. ET. The winner of Sunday's championship match will earn the League's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
