INDIANAPOLIS – Loyola senior Erik Hoops and sophomore Alex Cusumano were named Horizon League Men’s Co-Golfers of the Week, while Detroit junior Collette Hansen has been named Horizon League Women’s Golfer of the Week for the period from April 11-17.

Hoops and Cusumano both finished tied for second out of 72 golfers at the Detroit Titans Invitational last weekend to help Loyola win the 13-team event. Hoops opened the three-round event with a 75, but rebounded in the second round with a 67 before finishing the tournament with a final round of 70 to finish with a three-round score of 212, four-under-par. Cusumano fired an opening round 69, one of just two players in the tournament to break 70 in the first round, and followed up with a 70 in the second round to lead the Invitational after two rounds. He rounded out his tournament with a third round score of 73 to finish tied in second with Hoops.

The Loyola men’s golf team returns to action on April 21 when it plays in the Boilermaker Invitational in West Lafayette, Ind.

Hansen won the Women’s Golfer of the Week award after finishing in a tie for ninth-place out of 75 competitors at the Dolores Black Falcon Invitational. Hansen opened the tournament with a round of 77 and finished the two-round event with a score of 81. She was the top finisher for the Titans who finished fourth in the 12-team event.

The Detroit women’s golf team does not play in a tournament again until April 27 when it begins play in the Horizon League Championship played at the Mission Inn Resort in Howie-in-the-Hills, Fla.
