INDIANAPOLIS – Loyola sophomore guard Monica Albano has been named Horizon League Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for the week of Nov. 29.
Albano received the honor after averaging 26 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 2.5 steals and 1.5 blocks per game through two contests last week.
The Park Ridge, Ill., native recorded a career-high 30 points along with 6 boards and 3 steals helping the Ramblers defeat Niagara 85-70 on Sunday, after tallying 22 of Loyola’s 53 points against Colgate on Friday. Albano is the first LU women’s basketball player to score 20-plus in back-to-back games since Elyse VanBogaert in 2007.
Loyola plays the next two contests at home as it hosts DePaul on Thursday at 8pm ET, and Chicago State on Saturday with a 1:30 pm ET tipoff.
