INDIANAPOLIS – Loyola senior Erik Hoops has been named Horizon League Men’s Golfer of the Week, while Youngstown State junior Sarah Heimlich, Jr., has been named Horizon League Women’s Golfer of the Week for the period from April 4-10.

Hoops finished in a tie for second out of 29 golfers at the Hotels at Grand Prairie Invite at the WeaverRidge Golf Club in Peoria, Ill. Hoops shot an opening round 70 and a second round 71 before finishing the tournament with a final day score of 75 to finish one stroke behind the winner. The Ramblers won the five-team event by 14 strokes.

The Loyola men’s golf team returns to action on April 13 when it plays in the Detroit Titans Invitational.

Heimlich won the Women’s Golfer of the Week award after finishing in a tie for first-place at the Niagara Purple Aces Invitational. The junior shot an opening round 85 and a final round 78, the lowest round of the tournament, to finish with a two-round total of 163. The Penguins won the Niagara Invitational by 13 strokes.

The Youngstown State women’s golf team does not play in a tournament again until April 27 when it begins play in the Horizon League Championship played at the Mission Inn Resort in Howie-in-the-Hills, Fla.
