INDIANAPOLIS -- Loyola junior Erik Hoops has been named Horizon League Men’s Golfer of the Week, while Butler junior Michele Nash earns Women’s Golfer of the Week accolades for the period of March 23-30.
Hoops tied for runner-up out of 79 individuals at the Butler Spring Invitational in Avon, Ind. The Ramblers also tied for second in the 13-team event.
Hoops, a native of Perrysburg, Ohio, shot consecutive one-under-par rounds of 71 in the two day event finishing with a 142.
This was Hoops’ third top-ten finish of the year and his best this season.
Nash earned medalist honors on the women’s side of the Butler Spring Invitational, helping to Bulldogs to a first place finish.
Nash, a native of Indianapolis, Ind., shot a 73 in the first round and a 74 the next day to finish five over par and 12 strokes ahead in the two day event.
Hoops and Nash will become eligible for next week’s Horizon League Network's "People's Choice" award, which is announced each Thursday afternoon. Log on to www.HorizonLeague.com to vote.
Butler women will play in the Big Four Event in Indianapolis on April 7, while Loyola men will return to the links April 9 for the UK Bluegrass Invitational in Lexington, Ky.
