INDIANAPOLIS -- Loyola junior James McLachlan (Wymondham, England) and Milwaukee senior Shelby Schaal (Waterford, Wis.) have been named the Horizon League's outdoor field Athletes of the Week.

It is the first honor of the outdoor season for both.

McLachlan set a new school record with a 7.70m distance in the long jump. The leap was good enough to be a field of 22 at the prestigious Raleigh Relays. McLachlan currently leads to NCAA West Region and ranks fifth nationally.

Loyola will be splitting its squad this weekend between the Chicagoland Championships and the Pepsi Florida Relays in Gainesville, Fla.

Schaal also set a school record, earning 5,083 points in the hepathlon at the Washington University Invitational in St. Louis. Taking first overall and winning six of the seven events, Schaal also broke the Washington University Stadium record and now ranks 21st in the nation.

The Panthers return to action on Friday at Marquette.
