INDIANAPOLIS -- Valparaiso University freshman Luisa Desario has been named Horizon League Women's Soccer Player of the Week for the period of Aug. 31-Sept. 6.
Desario, a native of Bartlett, Ill., scored two goals in Valparaiso's 3-2 win over Ball State University on Thursday. She was the only Horizon League player to score more than one goal last week.
Desario and the Crusaders stayed scoreless with No. 14 Purdue University through 60 minutes on Saturday before eventually suffering a 1-0 setback.
Valparaiso (2-4-0) returns to action on Friday when it travels to Central Michigan University for a contest at 11:30 a.m. ET.
