Butler and Green Bay will represent the Horizon League in national postseason tournaments this week.
League-champion Butler (28-4) will be making its fourth consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament -- and seventh in the past 10 years. The Bulldogs are the fifth-seed in the West Region and will face Conference USA regular-season champion and 12th-seed UTEP (26-6) Thursday at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif. Game time is 5 p.m. ET. The winner will play either fourth-seed Vanderbilt or 13th-seed Murray State in the second round on Saturday.
Green Bay (21-12) is in the College Basketball Invitational and making back-to-back postseason appearances for the first time since 1996. The Phoenix will play at Akron (24-10) on Wednesday in the first round of the CBI. Tip-off is 7 p.m. ET. The winner will play either Indiana State or Saint Louis in the quarterfinals on Monday.
