INDIANAPOLIS -- In the final weekend before conference matchups begin, all nine Horizon League men's basketball teams are in action.
Detroit was scheduled to be the only Horizon League team playing twice this weekend, kicking off the action on Friday afternoon at #rv/rv Temple, but that game has been postponed due to adverse weather conditions and will be re-scheduled. Now, Cleveland State will be the only Horizon League team to play on Friday, hosting Rio Grande (Ohio) at 7 p.m. on HLN. The Vikings are coming off a loss at Akron but have won six straight home games.
Five Horizon League teams are scheduled to play on Saturday, starting at 1 p.m. as Milwaukee hosts Old Dominion on HLN. Prior to the holiday break, the Panthers lost to Wisconsin despite shooting a season-best 44 percent from the floor.
Both Chicago schools play at 2 p.m. on Saturday as Loyola visits DePaul on ESPN3 and UIC travels to Toledo. Five minutes later, Youngstown State hosts Marygrove on HLN.
In Saturday's last game, Valparaiso visits mid-major powerhouse Murray State at 3 p.m. on ESPN3. Both the Crusaders and the Racers have nine wins so far this season, and Valpo is coming off a win over NAIA-opponent Purdue Calumet.
On Sunday, Green Bay hosts Illinois-Springfield at noon. The game was originally scheduled for primetime -- rare for a Sunday -- but was moved ahead because the Green Bay Packers had their game against the Minnesota Vikings flexed by the NFL. That game, originally scheduled for 1 p.m., will now start at 4:25 p.m.
At 2 p.m. on Sunday, Wright State hosts Division III-foe Mount St. Joseph on HLN.
Wrapping up the weekend, Detroit finally gets on the court at 3 p.m., hosting Canisius on HLN. The Titans, having finally picked up their first road win last week against Alcorn State, are a perfect 6-0 at home this season and have won 14 straight games at Calihan Hall.
