Championship seedings, tournament host still far from determined

With only two sets of games remaining in the regular season, not one of the 10 seeds for the Horizon League Championship is set entering Thursday's action.

* Butler can clinch the outright regular-season title and number-one seed Thursday with a victory over Youngstown State AND a Green Bay loss at Detroit; Butler clinches at least a share of the League title with either a win over Youngstown State OR a Green Bay loss to Detroit.

* Cleveland State could still share the League title in a two- or three-way tie but cannot host the tournament due to various tiebreaking scenarios; the Vikings could, however, be the number-two seed and get a double-bye to the tournament semifinals.

* Five teams -- Butler, Green Bay, Cleveland State, Wright State and Milwaukee -- have clinched at least a first-round home game. (Youngstown State is in sixth place and can clinch a home game with a victory Thursday at Butler.)

* If Youngstown State loses to both Butler Thursday and Valparaiso Saturday, then Loyola could secure the sixth seed with a victory over UIC Friday.

Chicagoland rivals to clash in final ESPNU Friday Night Game of the Week

Chicagoland rivals meet again as Loyola plays host to UIC in the final ESPNU Friday Night Game of the Week this Friday at 9 p.m. Eastern, 8 p.m. Central. The Flames have won five of the past six meetings at the Gentile Center and defeated the Ramblers 83-69 back on Dec. 6 at the UIC Pavilion.

Dave Kaplan will call the play-by-play, with Jim Chones providing the analysis.

Speaking RPI

According to "The RPI Report," the Horizon League is ranked 12th among the 31 Division I conferences in RPI entering this week's games, just behind WAC and ahead of the Metro Atlantic (13th), Colonial (14th), West Coast (15th) and Mid-American (22nd).

Butler was 20th nationally in RPI and joined in the top 100 by Green Bay (67th) and Cleveland State (73rd) entering this week's action.
