Horizon League Women's Athlete-of-the-Week
Kurt Michaelis, Youngstown State, Senior, Toledo, OhioYoungstown State senior Kurt Michaelis shattered his own school record in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a fifth-place time of eight minutes, 53.16 seconds at the Penn Relays Thursday evening. His previous record of 8:57.95 was set at the 2003 Penn Relays. Based on the most recent top performances list, the time is the fastest run in the league this season.

Ryan Byrne, Detroit, Freshman, Essex, OntarioFreshman Ryan Byrne continued to impress in his first season as a Titan as he set another record this weekend at the Hillsdale Relays. Byrne's time of 53.78 in the 400-meter hurdles broke the UDM Rookie Record.
Bob Thurnhoffer, UIC, Senior, Lombard, Ill.
University of Illinois at Chicago senior jumper Bob Thurnhoffer picked up two victories in the long jump (21'1.5") and a career-best leap of 46'0" in the triple jump to lead the Flames at the Old Fashion Track Meet, hosted by North Central College April 23.
Josh Nygren, UW-Milwaukee, Sophomore, Marinette, Wis.
Josh Nygren took on the difficult task of competing in the 10,000-meter run at the 95th Annual Drake Relays and came away with solid results. The sophomore from Marinette, Wis. registered a career-best time in the event by posting a time of 30:52.71 and a 12th-place finish. Nygren's previous career-best was 31:44.94.
