INDIANAPOLIS – Horizon League men’s soccer teams continue tough non-conference schedules as all eight teams begin their third weekend of play.  The conference has an overall record of 10-7-10, with highlighted victories coming from Milwaukee over No. 12 Marquette and Valparaiso against No. 24 Michigan State. Matchups against ranked opponents continue Friday, Sept. 13 as Green Bay takes on No. 24 Northwestern at the Northern Illinois University Adidas Invitational.

Sunday, Sept. 15

12:00 p.m. – Cleveland State at Lipscomb
12:00 p.m. – Detroit vs. Dayton
12:30 p.m. – Oakland vs. St. Francis (Pa.)
3:00 p.m. – Milwaukee at IUPUI
3:00 p.m. – Green Bay at Northern Illinois
3:30 p.m. – UIC at Belmont

In their inaugural Horizon League season, Oakland began conference play with a 1-1 draw against Valparaiso last Friday. The Grizzlies are off to a 0-2-2 start and are seeking their first victory of the year at the Marshall Qdoba Invitational.

The Milwaukee men's soccer team, ranked No. 7 in the NSCAA Great Lakes poll, remains unbeaten (2-0-1) as they hit the road for the first time in 2013. The Panthers carry a perfect record against both weekend opponents, going 5-0 all-time against DePaul and 1-0 when facing the Jaguars from IUPUI.

Coming off of a 2-1 victory over Marshall, Cleveland State travels south to Tennessee for matchups against Belmont and Lipscomb. The Vikings aim to improve their 2-2-0 record before returning to Krenzler Field for a four-game home stand.

UIC men’s soccer, coming off of a 4-2 win over Western Michigan on Sunday, joins Cleveland State at the Belmont Invitational. The Flames hold a 1-2-0 record and expect tough competition at Rose Park this weekend.

Green Bay, receiving votes in the NSCAA Great Lakes poll, begins weekend play with a matchup against 24th-ranked Northwestern as the Phoenix look to continue their best season start since 2009. Sam Krenzien leads Green Bay and the Horizon League with four goals on the year, closely followed by teammate Sebastian Xiong with three.

The Titans head to Missouri for the Missouri State Men’s Soccer Tournament at Plaster Field in the hunt for their first victory of the year.  Detroit remains unbeaten with a 0-0-3 record as they take on Missouri State for the first-time in program history.

Wright State stays on the road for their lone game of the weekend traveling to West Virginia Friday night to take on the Mountaineers. The Raiders are off to a 1-1-0 start.

Valparaiso, ranked No. 10 in the NSCAA Great Lakes poll, hosts IUPUI for its first home game of the season Friday night at Brown Field. The Crusaders are coming off of a 2-1 victory over No. 24 Michigan State, the defending Big Ten Tournament champions.
