HORIZON LEAGUE NEWS AND NOTES

BUTLER HAVING BEST SEASON SINCE 2004:
With 11 wins, No. 21 Butler has tied the eighth-highest single-season wins mark in school history. In addition, the Bulldogs' win total is their highest since 2004. Butler is 16-3-3 in its last 22 matches dating back to last season.

DEFENSE THE KEY FOR THE BULLDOGS: No. 21 Butler has allowed just 12 goals in 16 matches, good for a 0.72 team goals-against average. The Bulldogs have yielded just one goal in six contests at home. Goalkeepers Matt Hegeman (7) and Fabian Knopfler (3) have combined for 10 shutouts this season.

PATANO LEADING LEAGUE IN POINTS: Butler senior forward Frank Patano sits atop the Horizon League wtih 20 points this season. He also leads the conference in goals (9) and is tied for third in shots (57). Patano, who has five game-winning goals, has posted multi-goal performances against Northeastern on Sept. 1 and Marshall on Sept. 21.

A RECORD-BREAKING SEASON FOR CSU: Cleveland State's win over Wright State last Saturday allowed the Vikings to improve to 5-0-1 at home this season, marking the team's first unbeaten home season in school history. The .917 home winning percentage is ahead of the old record of .800 set when the Vikings went 8-2 at home in 1989. The record isn't set yet as it is likely that CSU will play at least one more home match this year, that coming in the Horizon League Championship.

HARPEL HEATING UP: Since allowing 10 goals in two matches in late September, Viking goalkeeper Nick Harpel has yielded just five goals in the last seven contests, highlighted by three shutouts. The Toledo, Ohio, native is second in the Horizon League with 5.25 saves per match while posting a 1.54 goals against average.

PHILP PROVIDING HEROICS FOR UDM: Detroit freshman Adam Philp has scored three goals in his first collegiate season, including the game-winning tally in each of the last two matches. Philp put the Titans on the board in a 3-1 rout of Western Michigan on Oct. 19, and then he posted a multi-goal performance last Wednesday in UDM's 2-0 win over IPFW.

SUSJNA LEADING THE TITANS: Senior Renato Susnja, who scored in the first half of Detroit's win over Western Michigan on Oct. 19, now leads the team in goals (3) and points (8).
