Valparaiso junior Jarad Miller and Wright State sophomore Michael Schum have been named Louisville Slugger Division I Preseason Third-Team All-Americans by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper.
Miller, a relief pitcher from Fort Wayne, Ind., set the Valparaiso single-season saves record (17) and ranked second in the nation last year. In 2009 he posted a 2.16 earned-run average over 25 innings and held opponents to a .178 batting average.
The right-hander carries a school-record 26 saves for his career.
Schum, a relief pitcher from Bright, Ind., threw 74 innings a season ago. He ranked third nationally in ERA (1.95), and was in the Top 25 for saves(13) and walks-per-nine-innings (1.22).
The right-hander led the Horizon League in ERA last year, and held opponents to a League-low .225 batting average.
He made a school-record 34 appearances in 2009, and recorded the final out in 22 of WSU's 33 wins.
